GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The nationally-ranked No. 15 Hampden-Sydney College Golf team posted a first-round score of 313 on Monday to stand in a tie for 11th among 21 teams at The O'Briant-Jensen Memorial Tournament being played at The Cardinal by Pete Dye in Greensboro, North Carolina. Senior team captain Nick Rubino (Charlotte, NC) is leading the Tigers with his four-over par 75 that is tied for 23rd individually among the 108 collegiate golfers.

Rubino posted three birdies and eight pars during his opening round on the 6,778-yard, par 71 layout, and is being followed by senior Rece Lott (Fort Worth, TX) (78, T-47th), freshman Oliver Tobin (Charlotte, NC) (79, T-57th), sophomore Jack Barnes (Manakin Sabot) (81, T-69th) and senior John Hutcheson (Edina, MN) (84, T-94th). Lott had two birdies and 10 pars. Tobin had four birdies and seven pars. Barnes and Hutcheson each had one birdie and eight pars. The Tigers are only six shots out of eighth place with one round remaining.

The tournament field features four of the Top 10 among eight of the Top 25 teams in latest SCOREBOARD powered by clippd NCAA Division III Men's Golf rankings, including event host and No. 13 Guilford College, who is leading the event with its five-over par 289. Eddie Coffren of No. 21 the University of Lynchburg is the individual leader after 18 holes at three-under par 68.

H-SC will continue and complete its competition in the two-day, 36-hole tournament on Tuesday, October 29, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in North Carolina.
