FINAL RESULTS
MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. -- The nationally-ranked No. 17 Hampden-Sydney College Golf team posted a third-round score of 279 on Tuesday for a 54-hole team score of 859 (295-285-279) to finish in a tie for 10th among 24 teams at the
Golfweek October Classic played at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort's Raven Golf Club in Miramar Beach, Florida. Sophomore
Jack Barnes (Manakin Sabot) (74-73-65) and senior
Rece Lott (Fort Worth, TX) (73-69-70) led the Tigers with their respective three-day and collegiate-best 54-hole scores of one-under par 212, each tying for 20th individually among the 120 collegiate golfers.
The Tigers improved by six more strokes from day two with their five-under par 279, the fourth-best round of the final day, and moved up six more spots on the team leaderboard, as well. Barnes posted seven birdies and 10 pars during his six-under par round of 65, best of the day, on the 6,623-yard, par 71 layout, while Lott posted two birdies and 15 pars during his one-under par round of 70. John Hutcheson (Edina, MN) (74-69-74--217, T-52nd), classmate and team captain
Nick Rubino (Charlotte, NC) (74-74-72--220, T-71st) and freshman
Oliver Tobin (Charlotte, NC) (74-78-72--224, T-88th). Hutcheson also posted a new collegiate-best for 54-holes, posting one birdie and 13 pars during his final round. Rubino had five birdies and 10 pars, while Tobin had three birdies and 12 pars—it was Tobin's first 54-hole collegiate tournament competition.
Barnes and Lott each tied for ninth among the tournament field in par 3 scoring (2.87, -2). Rubino tied for ninth in par 4 scoring (3.89, -3), and Lott tied for 15th in par 4 scoring (3.93, -2). Hutcheson tied for 12th in par 5 scoring (4.75, -3). Barnes finished the event with 12 birdies and 33 pars. Lott finished with 11 birdies and 36 pars. Hutcheson finished with nine birdies and 35 pars. Rubino finished with 11 birdies and 32 pars. Tobin finished with nine birdies and 32 pars. H-SC's round of 279 was its lowest since the 2021-22 season (274, Camp Lejeune Gold Championship, April 8, 2022), and the 54-hole 859 was its lowest since winning the 2022 ODAC Championship (846, April 29-30, 2022).
The extremely-competitive tournament field featured eight of the Top 10 among 18 of the Top 25 teams in latest Bushnell/Golfweek DIII Coaches Poll, including defending national champion and No. 1 Methodist (NC), No. 2 Emory (GA), defending national runner-up and No. 3 Carnegie Mellon (PA), No. 4 Illinois Wesleyan, No. 5 Oglethorpe (GA), No. 6 Washington and Lee, No. 7 Huntingdon (AL), No. 10 Lynchburg, No. 11 (tied) Kenyon (OH), No. 13 LeTourneau (TX), No. 15 Bethel (MN), No. 16 Babson (MA), No. 17 Hampden-Sydney, No. 18 Pomona-Pitzer (CA), No. 20 Wisconsin-Eau Claire, No. 21 (tied) Sewanee (TN) and No. 21 (tied) St. John's (MN). In addition, the other six schools participating in the tournament are each receiving votes in the latest poll.
Fellow ODAC member and sixth-ranked Washington and Lee won the event with its 30-under par 277-268-280--822, while three individuals, including two from W&L, carded 11-under par scores of 202.

The O'Briant-Jensen Memorial Tournament hosted by conference member Guilford College on October 28-29, a two-day, 36-hole tournament to be played at The Cardinal by Pete Dye in Greensboro, North Carolina.
