Saturday Recap | Hampden-Sydney Stands Sixth At The 2022 ODAC Swimming Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Hampden-Sydney College completed the second full day of competition at the 2022 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Swimming Championships on Saturday night at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in North Carolina. The Tigers stand sixth among 10 teams with 124 points, while Washington and Lee University leads the championships with its 623.50 points.

H-SC finished sixth in the 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:41.46, featuring freshman Quinn Hardimon (Alexandria), freshman Cole Renfrow (Bowling Green, KY), senior Woody Parsons (Virginia Beach) and junior Braxton Psuik (Glen Allen).

The Tigers had three individuals advance to finals on Saturday night, including Parsons in the 100 Fly, Hardimon in both the 200 Free and the 100 Back, and senior Dane Warner (Norfolk) in the 400 IM. Parsons swam 53.34 to finish 12th, while Hardimon posted 55.54 to place 12th in the 100 Back, and 1:48.66 to place 13th in the 200 Free, and Warner swam 5:01.32 to finish 15th.

In Saturday preliminary results, Renfrow finished 17th in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:04.80 and was an alternate for the finals. Psuik and junior Andrew Rehak (Radford) finished 17th and 18th, respectively, in the 100 Back with times of 58.12 and 58.95, respectively, to earn alternate positions for the finals, as well.

Also swimming in the 100 fly were senior Jason Covaney (Williamsburg) (20th, 56.60), freshman Charles Adams (Mechanicsville) (22nd, 1:00.54) and senior Ben Hiter (Mineral) (24th, 1:03.07).

Others competing in the 200 Free included freshman Matt Brooks (Springfield) (22nd, 1:58.14), junior Patrick Garifo (New London, NC) (27th, 2:07.72) and freshman Carson Mann (Matthews, NC) (29th, 2:28.74).

Warner swam in the 100 Breast, as well, and finished 19th with a time of 1:08.79. Freshman Brandon Hyde (Thousand Oaks, CA) (19th, 59.04) and sophomore Patrick Duffy (Charlotte, NC) (21st, 1:02.20) each competed in the 100 Back for the Tigers.

The conference championships continue and conclude on Sunday in Greensboro.
