Friday Recap | Hampden-Sydney Stands Fifth At The 2022 ODAC Swimming Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. –
Hampden-Sydney College completed the first full day of competition at the 2022 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Swimming Championships on Friday night at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in North Carolina. The Tigers stand fifth among 10 teams with 82 points, while Washington and Lee University leads the championships with its 309.50 points.

H-SC finished fifth in the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:30.67, while finishing sixth in the 400 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 3:43.66. The Tigers placed fifth in the 800 Free Relay on Thursday's opening night with a time of 7:32.54. Swimming on the 200 Free Relay were junior Braxton Psuik (Glen Allen), freshman Brandon Hyde (Thousand Oaks, CA), senior Jason Covaney (Williamsburg) and senior Woody Parsons (Virginia Beach). The 400 Medley Relay featured freshman Quinn Hardimon (Alexandria), freshman Cole Renfrow (Bowling Green, KY), Parsons and Psuik. The 800 Free Relay included Parsons, freshman Matt Brooks (Springfield), junior Andrew Rehak (Radford) and Hardimon.

In Friday preliminary results, Hardimon finished 18th in 500 Yard Free with a time of 4:56.70 and was an alternate for the finals in that event. Also competing in 500 Free was Brooks (26th, 5:35.74).

Psuik finished 18th in the 50 Yard Free with a time of 22.40 and was an alternate for the finals, as well. Others competing in the 50 Free were Covaney (21st, 23.34), Hyde (22nd, 23.78), sophomore Patrick Duffy (Charlotte, NC) (25th, 24.03), senior Ben Hiter (Mineral) (28th, 25.47), freshman Carson Mann (Matthews, NC) (30th, 27.82) and senior Joe Corbett (Newport, NC) (32nd, 31.34).

Rehak placed 24th in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:09.73, followed by senior Dane Warner (Norfolk) (26th, 2:18.59) and junior Patrick Garifo (New London, NC) (28th, 2:35.73).

The conference championships continue on Saturday and Sunday in Greensboro.
