Hampden-Sydney Wins Over Ferrum On Senior Day, 94-15

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. – The Hampden-Sydney College swim team honored its five seniors prior to the start of the meet against Ferrum College with the Tigers coming away with a 94-15 win over the Panthers from Leggett Pool. Seniors Joe Corbett (Newport, NC), Jason Covaney (Williamsburg), Ben Hiter (Mineral), Woody Parsons (Virginia Beach), and Dane Warner (Norfolk) were all honored for their contributions to the swim program over the past four seasons as part of Senior Day activities.

"These guys have done so much for this team," said head coach Betsy Leonard. "We will miss them and what they mean to every gentleman in the program. I have no doubt they will do well after graduating this spring."

The relay team of freshman Quinn Hardimon (Alexandria), junior captain Andrew Rehak (Radford), freshman Charles Adams (Mechanicsville), and Corbett opened up the meet winning the 200 Meter Free Relay in a time of 2:10.12. Freshman Matt Brooks (Springfield) claimed the top time in the 200 Meter Free in 2:19.12. Junior Braxton Psuik (Glen Allen) won his first event of the season in the 50 Meter Free with a time of 26.10.

Freshman Brandon Hyde (Thousand Oaks, CA) won the 200 Meter IM in a time of 2:40.37. Parsons, owner of several school records, won the next men's event, the 100 Meter Fly, in a time of 1:02.13. Freshman Cole Renfrow (Bowling Green, KY) took home the top spot in the 100 Meter Free in a 1:03.92 while Hardimon claimed his second event win with a time of 1:05.47 in the 100 Meter Back.

Parsons won the 400 Meter Free with a time of 4:58.74. Renfow followed that up winning his second event in the 100 Meter Breast in a time of 1:17.13. The relay team of Brooks, Rehak, Covaney, and Hardimon completed the sweep in the 200 Meter Free Relay in a time of 1:47.04.

The Tigers (4-1) return to the pool on Sunday, January 23 when they travel to William Peace University for a non-conference dual. The meet with the Pacers gets underway from the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary, NC at 2 p.m.
