Nationally-Ranked Hampden-Sydney Earns No. 3 Seed For 2021 ODAC Men's Lacrosse Tournament

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. – The nationally-ranked Hampden-Sydney College lacrosse team has earned the No. 3 seed for the 2021 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men's Lacrosse Tournament and will host a quarterfinal game against #6 Randolph-Macon College on Tuesday, May 4, at 4 p.m. at Fulton Field at Lewis C. Everett Stadium. The Yellow Jackets defeated #7 Guilford College in the First Round on Sunday, 15-10.

The Tigers of fifth-year head coach Jason Rostan '03 finished their regular season with an overall record of 11-2, including 8-1 in the ODAC. H-SC won its first eight ODAC contests before falling to nationally-ranked #4 the University of Lynchburg on May 1, 11-9. The Tigers advanced to the semifinals of the 2019 ODAC Tournament before dropping a 20-11 decision to Lynchburg. There was no ODAC Tournament in 2020 due to the global pandemic. H-SC won the ODAC Title in 2017, while advancing to the third round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Randolph-Macon enters the game with a record of 6-7 overall, 4-5 in the ODAC. Earlier this season the Tigers used a 11-4 lead at halftime to down the Yellow Jackets 22-13 on April 10. Senior Jared Medwar/Apex, NC led the Tigers with a career-high seven goals while classmate Jake Brummett/Glen Rock, PA won 28-32 face offs with 20 ground balls. Medwar was named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Team of the Week for his efforts against Randolph-Macon.

2019 ODAC Tournament Champion Washington and Lee University (10-4, 9-1 ODAC) is the top seed for the ODAC Tournament and will receive a bye into the tournament semifinals on May 6. Lynchburg (14-2, 8-1 ODAC) is the No. 2 seed, and also earns a bye into the semifinals.

The other quarterfinal game on Tuesday No. 4 seed Roanoke College (7-3, 5-2 ODAC) against No. 5 seed Bridgewater College (5-4, 5-4 ODAC) in Salem.

The ODAC Tournament semifinals and championship will take place on the campus of the highest-seed in the game. Both semifinals will be played on Thursday, May 6 with the championship played at the highest seed remaining on Saturday, May 8. Times are yet to be determined for both days.
