Owen Tappy/Charlotte, NC has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC)
Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the period February 22-28.
Tappy tossed 3.0 scoreless innings of late relief, yielding just one hit with two strikeouts and two walks, to earn the pitching win during a 2-1 season-opening road win at Methodist University on Feb. 27 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He faced 12 batters and only allowed an infield single, while registering five ground-ball outs and two fly-ball outs. Tappy is 1-0 on the season with a 0.00 earned run average, limiting opponents to a .100 batting average.
H-SC (1-1) is scheduled to play its home opener in a non-conference game against Christopher Newport University on Wednesday, March 3, beginning at 3 p.m. on Yank Bernier Field at the Ty Cobb Ballpark – Wurdeman Stadium.
