LEXINGTON, Va. – The Hampden-Sydney College swim team opened its season on Saturday at the 2021 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Relays. The meet took place at the W&L Natatorium on the campus of Washington and Lee University. The Tigers finished sixth among the eight teams participating in the event with 53 points.
The host Generals won the team event with 410 points, narrowly edging out runner-up Roanoke College with 409 points. The University of Lynchburg (256), Bridgewater College (123), and Randolph-Macon College (92) round out the top five teams.
In the first men's event of the day, the 3x50 fly relay, the trio of senior
Jason Covaney (Williamsburg), freshman
Brandon Hyde (Thousand Oaks, CA), and senior
Woody Parsons (Virginia Beach) finished ninth with a time of 1:16.93. The 3x50 back relay saw junior
Andrew Rehak (Radford), Hyde, and freshman
Quinn Hardimon (Alexandria) also finish ninth in 1:19.76.
In the 500 Yard, 50-100-150-200 Relay, sophomore
Patrick Duffy (Charlotte, NC), Covaney, Parsons, and Hardimon finished 10
th with a time of 4:34.58. In the 100 Yard 4x25 Dolphin Kick relay, Hardimon, Covaney, Rehak, and Parsons finished 10
th with a time of 54.03.
H-SC will next compete when it hosts Virginia Wesleyan University on Saturday, October 30. The dual meet with the Marlins gets underway at 1 p.m. at Leggett Pool.
