Box Score HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College swept the three doubles matches, before taking five of the six singles contests, for an 8-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men's tennis victory past Guilford College on Tuesday at the H-SC Tennis Courts. The host Tigers improved to 8-9 overall, 7-1 in the ODAC, while the visiting Quakers dropped to 9-5 overall, 8-3 in the ODAC.
In doubles, junior brothers Matthew Moody/Raleigh, N.C. and Michael Moody/Raleigh, N.C. won at No. 1, 8-6. Junior Grayson Burns/Waynesboro and sophomore William Driskill/Middleburg won at No. 2, 8-7 (7-4). Junior Clark Cummings/Norfolk and freshman Tyler Brice/Rocky Mount, N.C. won at No. 3, 8-2.
In singles, Matthew Moody won at No. 1 by scores of 6-3, 5-7, 10-1. Driskill won at No. 3 by scores of 6-4, 6-4. Burns won at No. 4 by scores of 6-2, 6-4. Cummings won at No. 5 by scores of 6-2, 6-2. Brice won at No. 6 by scores of 6-1, 6-2. Michael Moody fell at No. 2 by scores of 7-6 (7-2), 6-7 (1-7), 4-10.
H-SC is scheduled to play on the road at ODAC opponent Bridgewater College on Thursday, April 18, at 3:30 p.m. in Bridgewater. The Tigers will return home to welcome ODAC member Roanoke College on Tuesday, April 23, at 4 p.m. … a match that was postponed and re-scheduled from April 13 due to rain.
