Box Score ARLINGTON, VA-The Tiger baseball team fell 11-5 at Marymount on Monday afternoon with the Saints being helped greatly by a six run inning in the fourth. With the loss, the Tigers fall to 10-10 on the season; Marymount improves to 12-10.
Marymount took an early lead, using two runs in each the first and second to go up 4-0.
The Tigers cut that lead in half in the top of the third, scoring two runs courtesy a two-run homerun from Jonathan Triesler (Chesterfield, VA/Clover Hill).
An inning and a half later, Marymount added six runs to its tally, extending its lead to 10-2.
Triesler struck again in the sixth, blasting his second homerun of the day – this time with two runners on base – to bring the Tigers within five.
The Saints, however, would get the final score of the game, adding one more run in the seventh to take their final 11-5 lead.
Triesler batted in all five runs for the Tigers while going 2-for-4 at the plate with two homeruns. As a team, the Tigers had six hits.
On the mound, Harrison Moncure (Glen Allen, VA/Mills Godwin) was the Tigers' pitcher of decision, giving up ten runs – six earned – on ten hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 3.2 innings. Josh Barber (Midlothian, VA/Monacan) and Andrew Brooks (Chesapeake, VA/Greenbrier Christian Academy) each pitched 1.2 innings, and Hayden Basse (Fairfax Station, VA/Bishop O'Connell) threw one scoreless.
The Tigers will remain on the road and return to action Wednesday, April 4 as they face the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan University. First pitch is set for 3:00 PM.
