Tigers Fall 9-0 to Denison

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA-The Hampden-Sydney baseball team wrapped up the H-SC Classic at 2-1 while having a four game win streak snapped, falling 9-0 to Denison. The Tigers were limited to just three hits on the day and were hampered by four errors. Hampden-Sydney now stands at 5-2 on the season while Denison improves to 2-1.

Denison offensively was able to get on the board early and often, scoring four runs on just one hit in the first inning with the help of a bases clearing triple. After a scoreless second inning, the Big Red tacked on three more in the third to take a big 7-0 lead.

Denison extended its lead once again in the seventh, adding two more runs.

As Denison was able to score nine runs, John Troll kept the Tiger offense at bay, holding Hampden-Sydney scoreless through seven innings on just two hits.

Mikey Rivera then came in for Denison and pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth.

Nic Graziano (Virginia Beach, VA/First Colonial) was the Tigers' pitcher of decision, allowing seven runs – just three earned – on six hits and three walks with seven strikeouts.

Joseph Crute (North Chesterfield, VA/Monacan) pitched one inning, giving up two runs – one earned – on one hit and a walk. Trey Celata (Chesapeake, VA/Atlantic Shores Christian) and Evan Lester (Chester, VA/Thomas Dale) each pitched one scoreless inning.

Blake Hartman (Chester, VA/Thomas Dale), Cory Allgood (Chester, VA/Thomas Dale), and Sam Feliciano (Bristow, VA/Patriot) each recorded a hit.

The Tigers will hit the road for a spring break trip to Myrtle Beach where they will start play on Tuesday, March 6 against Lehman. First pitch is set for 6:00 PM.
