Tigers Dominate Marlins 17-8

The Hampden-Sydney Lacrosse team dominated Virginia Wesleyan 17-8 on Wednesday night to conclude the regular season. H-SC will host an ODAC Tournament game on Tuesday with opponent and time to be determined.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Tigers got off to a slow start, leading just 2-1 after the first quarter, but the Tigers came brushed it off and dominated from there
  • H-SC scored four straight goals to go out in front 5-1 with 13:24 left in the first half
  • H-SC maintained the four-goal lead at 7-3 midway through the second quarter before the scoring slowed down, but Hunter Brown buried a shot at the halftime buzzer to put H-SC up 8-3
  • Hampden-Sydney went on to outscore VWC 4-0 in the third quarter and led 13-3 41 seconds into the fourth quarter before the Marlins scored four of the next five to make it 14-7 at 8:38
  • Ian Levin, Davis Horbal, and Tre Williams proceeded to shut the door on a VWC comeback attempt with three consecutive goals to go up 17-7 with just 5:36 remaining

  • Hunter Brown posted game-highs of three goals and three assists to go with three ground balls
  • Jared Arntzen won 16 of 18 faceoffs with 14 ground balls. He has won 38 of his last 42 faceoffs with 27 ground balls
  • Ian Levin notched three goals, two assists, and three ground balls
  • Connor Pool recorded four points on two goals and two assists with three ground balls
  • Chandler Shaheen scored three times in addition to four ground balls
