After Matthew Spagnolo (Glen Allen, VA/Deep Run) scored on a balk, Goodwyn reached on an error that allowed Dustin Wiles (Belmont, NC/South Point) to score. Andrew Kasiski (Chesapeake, VA/Indian River) then capped off the inning with a two-RBI single that scored Counts and Goodwyn.

Counts and Spagnolo teamed up in the ninth as the Counts' RBI put the Tigers up 9-2.

Jonathan Triesler (Chesterfield, VA/Clover Hill) then allowed just one hit with five strikeouts while keeping the Hornets off the board in the final 2.2 innings.
