Hampden-Sydney Is The #7 Seed For The 2026 ODAC Baseball Tournament

Tigers will play at #2 seed Shenandoah in opening quarterfinal series this weekend in Winchester

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College is the No. 7 seed for the 2026 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Baseball Tournament, and will play a Best-of-Three Quarterfinal series at No. 2 seed and nationally-ranked Shenandoah University, beginning on Saturday, May 2, at 2 p.m. in Winchester. Game two is scheduled for Sunday, May 3, at 1 p.m., and a third game, if necessary, is set for Sunday, May 3, at 4 p.m.
 
H-SC has an overall record of 18-21 after completing the ODAC regular season at 10-10 in conference games under second-year head coach Michael Mulvey. The Tigers have been led at the plate this season by senior outfielders and team captains Jack Wilson (Petersburg) (.360, 5 HRs, 1 3B, 10 2Bs, 27 RBIs, 10 SBs) and Chase Sanford (Mechanicsville) (.345, 3 HRs, 3 3Bs, 9 2Bs, 35 RBIs, 7 SBs), along with sophomore third baseman Connor Powell (Midlothian) (.331, 4 HRs, 3 3Bs, 9 2Bs, 32 RBIs, 14 SBs). Sophomore right-hander Brady Wilson (Virginia Beach) (7-4, 4.22 ERA, 64.0 IP, 42K), senior right-hander Jacob Williams (Chesapeake) (0-2, 6.48 ERA, 33.1 IP, 39K, 6 saves) and senior right-hander and team captain Sterling Austin (Petersburg) (3-2, 6.91 ERA, 54.2 IP, 47 K) have led the mound efforts this spring.

SU has an overall record of 30-9, finishing 13-7 in the ODAC. The Hornets are ranked sixth in the latest NCAA Division III Baseball NPI, seventh in the latest D3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25 and eighth in the ABCA/Division III Coaches Poll. SU won the two regular season games played this season on March 28 at H-SC, including 25-6 in seven innings in game one and 10-8 in game two.

ODAC TOURNAMENT SERIES HISTORY
H-SC and SU are meeting in the ODAC Tournament in Winchester for the fifth time since 2018 when the conference went to its current Best-of-Three Quarterfinal Series' format. The Hornets have swept three of the four previous quarterfinals, most recently in 2022 by scores of 6-2 and 4-1. The Tigers are 2-9 all-time versus SU in ODAC Tournament games since the Hornets joined the ODAC for 2012-13 … the last postseason win against SU in 2021—a 4-3 victory in Winchester.

Tickets are available via HomeTown Ticketing at suhornets.com/tickets or cash sales at gate. $10 for each day or $15 for a weekend pass. Ages 17 & younger are free, and students with a school ID are free.

2026 ODAC TOURNAMENT FIELD
The remainder of the ODAC Baseball Tournament field includes nationally-ranked No. 2 the University of Lynchburg (31-4-1, 18-1-1) as the top seed, hosting No. 8 seed Roanoke College (23-16, 9-11) in another best-of-three series, while No. 3 seed Randolph-Macon College (23-12, 13-7) is hosting No. 6 seed Virginia Wesleyan University (20-16, 10-10), and No. 4 seed and nationally-ranked No. 10 Bridgewater College (30-10, 12-8) is hosting No. 5 seed Washington and Lee University (20-12-1, 10-9-1).

The four winners from weekend No. 1 will reset -- and reseed -- before heading to Capital One Park for double-elimination play. This is the third season the Tysons-area venue has crowned the ODAC's champion. Play is slated for May 7-9 in Northern Virginia.
