Tennis Opens Season With 8-1 Win Over Lynchburg

Hampden-Sydney Tennis rolled to an 8-1 win over Lynchburg College in the season opener for the Tigers.

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Tigers were without the services of their projected #3 player Clark Cummings and thus also half of their regular #2 doubles team
  • The Tigers swept all three doubles matches
  • Matthew Moody and Michael Moody took out Juan Borga and Bryce Barber 8-5
  • Trent Singleton and Levy Young defeated Dominick Gutierrez and Nick Savino 8-6
  • Harrison Stone and Grayson Burns earned the victory at the #3 flight by a score of 8-3 against Alex Ferraccio and Andrew Link
  • Michael Moody took quick care of Zack Shane 6-1, 6-3 at the #2 singles flight while Stone clinched the win for the Tigers at 6-0, 6-2 at the #5 spot
  • Singleton was victorious by a score of 7-5, 6-2 at the third spot while Young went 6-4, 6-3 in a win at #4
  • Burns won the last match for the Tigers at the #6 flight, going 7-5, 4-6, 10-2
