Tennis Concludes Season at Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, VA – Hampden-Sydney Tennis narrowly fell 5-4 on the road at Lynchburg College to finish the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • H-SC led 2-1 after doubles
  • Trent Singleton (Richmond, VA/Douglas S. Freeman) and Harrison Stone (Durham, NC/Voyager) took an 8-6 decision at the #2 slot
  • Nathan Horvit (Columbia, MO/Rock Bridge) and Andrew Loving (Charlottesville, VA/Western Albemarle) also won 8-6 at the #3 flight
  • Patrick Bryant (Raleigh, NC/Broughton) and David Anderson (Williamsburg, VA/Lafayette) forced a tiebreaker at the #1 spot but fell 9-8 (7-3)
  • Stone rolled to a 6-3, 6-0 win at #2 singles
  • Horvit, playing at the #5 position, lost his first set 6-3 but bounced back to decisively win the match in the next two sets 6-1. 6-1
  • Singleton took the first set of #1 single 6-4 but Josh Johnson won the next two sets by slim margins of 6-4, 6-3
  • Loving and Anderson fell in tightly contested matches at #3 and #4, each falling 6-3, 7-5
