Randolph-Macon Wins Marathon Tennis Match 6-3

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA – In a tennis match that lasted four hours, Randolph-Macon came out on top 6-3.

  • Records: Hampden-Sydney 2-13, 1-7 ODAC; Randolph-Macon 10-4, 5-4 ODAC

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Hampden-Sydney went up 2-1 after doubles play behind wins from the #2 team of Trent Singleton (Richmond, VA/Douglas S. Freeman) and Harrison Stone (Durham, NC/Voyager) along with a victory at the #3 flight by the combo of Andrew Loving (Charlottesville, VA/Western Albemarle) and Nathan Horvit (Columbia, MO/Rock Bridge)
  • The Tigers battled hard in singles play forcing a tiebreaker in one match while two of the other matches went the distance to three sets
  • Horvit prevailed 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 at the #5 flight
  • Loving fell 6-0 in the first set of #2 singles, but he battled back to win the second set 6-4 before narrowly falling 6-4 in the third set
  • Stone dropped the first set 7-6 (10-4) at #3 singles. Battling a leg injury suffered during the match that limited his mobility, he battled through the pain before ultimately dropping the second 6-2.
