The Tigers showed great patience at the plate in the opening frame, using three walks and two doubles to score Lee Carneal (Charlottesville, VA/Albemarle) on a passed ball.

Jack Elliott (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) then led off the second reaching base on a hit-by-pitch and was later batted in on a Brian Goodwyn (Chester, VA/Thomas Dale) RBI-single.

After three scoreless, the Tigers added one more to the board with John Lloyd (Glen Allen, VA/Deep Run) scoring on a Cody Smith (Bristol, VA/Virginia HS) RBI-single.

Lloyd got in the scoring action again, leading off the eighth with a homerun for the Tigers' final run.

The Maroons made the game interesting, loading the bases in the top of the ninth, but Zach Perkins (Appomattox, VA/Appomattox) came in and collected his fourth save of the season.

Hampden-Sydney recorded seven hits to Roanoke's four. Goodwyn and Lloyd each had two.

Hampden-Sydney and Roanoke will have a short turnaround, playing tomorrow morning at 9:30 AM at Ty Cobb Ballpark at Wurdeman Stadium.
