HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA – Hampden-Sydney Tennis fell 6-3 in a four-hour tennis match vs. Bridgewater College on Saturday.
J.B. Weaver (Raleigh, NC / Needham Broughton) and Fitzhugh Johnson (Fredericksburg, VA / James Monroe) picked up a hard fought 9-7 win at #1 doubles, but Bridgewater grabbed the advantage after doubles play with wins of 9-0 and 8-4 at the #2 and #3 flights.
Three of the six singles matches needed to go the full distance. Kyle Hartfield defeated Johnson 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 at #2. Thacher Jennings (Lynchburg, VA / E.C. Glass) came back for a 6-4, 7-4 (4), 6-4 win at the #4 flight. San Churchill earned a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 bounce back victory over Lawrence Bowers (New Bern, NC / Arendell Parrott Academy) at the #5 spot. David Dodson (Roanoke, VA / Cave Spring) made quick work of Mike Cable 6-1, 6-1 at the #6 flight.
Hampden-Sydney travels to Lynchburg, VA on Tuesday for a 4 pm match vs. Randolph College
