BRIDGEWATER, VA - A win at #1 singles clinched a 5-4 win for Bridgewater against H-SC Tennis in the ODAC Tournament Quarterfinals.
The Tigers had the 2-1 advantage after doubles. J.B. Weaver (Raleigh, NC / Needham Broughton) and Thacher Jennings (Lynchburg, VA / E.C. Glass) earned an 8-3 win at #1 doubles while Lawrence Bowers (New Bern, NC / Arendell Parrott Academy) and David Dodson (Roanoke, VA / Cave Spring) took an impressive 8-2 victory at #3. Fitzhugh Johnson (Fredericksburg, VA / James Monroe) and Zack King (Henrico, VA / Mills Godwin) narrowly fell 86 at the #2 flight.
Christian Lynn, Thomas Rischoff, and Sam Churchill collected tough wins at singles flights 2-4. Trent Singleton (Richmond, VA / Douglas S. Freeman) toppled Mike Cable 6-0, 7-6 (7-5) at #5 while Dodson took a #6 flight win 4-6, 6-0, 6-2. The only match remaining, with the score knotted at 4-4, was #1 singles, which was entering it's third set. Weaver rolled to a 6-0 first set win, but Kyle Hartfield rebounded to take set #2 7-6 (7-5). Hartfield took the momentum into the final set, winning it 6-5 and clinching the victory for the Eagles.
The Tigers finish the season 6-7 overall with a 6-4 mark in ODAC play.
