Tennis Rolls Past Shenandoah 9-0

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – Hampden-Sydney Tennis rolled past Shenandoah 9-0 on Sunday. The Tigers won two matches via forfeit due to Shenandoah not being able to field a player at #6 singles or a second participant at #3 doubles. The match was moved to Boar's Head Inn in Charlotteville, VA due to weather.

J.B. Weaver (Raleigh, NC / Needham Broughton) and Fitzhugh Johnson (Fredericksburg, VA / James Monroe) took an 8-3 win at #1 doubles while Thacher Jennings (Lynchburg, VA / E.C. Glass) and Mitchell Swann (Lynchburg, VA / E.C. Glass) won 8-2 at the #2 flight.

Weaver earned a 6-1, 6-2 win at #1 singles, and Johnson posted didn't drop a single game in a 6-0, 6-0 win at the #2 spot. Zack King (Henrico, VA / Mills Godwin) defeated Zach O'Neal 6-3, 6-3 at #3, Jennings got a 6-3, 6-1 "W" at the #4 flight, and Trent Singleton (Richmond, VA / Douglas S. Freeman) took down Brett Holmes 6-0, 6-0 at #5.

Hampden-Sydney hosts Virginia Wesleyan on Tuesday at 3 pm.
