HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (March 18, 2009)– The Hampden-Sydney College tennis team continues to roll as they boasted another 9-0 win in two days. The Tigers showed that they just have too much fire power for the Hornets as they dug in to get the win. William Moss (Fredericksburg, VA/Fredericksburg) returned to the no. 1 singles spot for the Tigers and had a convincing 6-0, 6-0 win over Kristian Richardson.
Sophomore Zack Pack (Keysville, VA/Randolph-Henry) had a solid come-from-behind win. After falling in the first set 6-3, Pack settled down and won the next two sets 6-0, 6-1.
Freshman Kevin Calhoun (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) also had a tough match but pulled it out in the end winning 6-3, 7-5.
Though the Tigers were tired from the previous days' match, they were still able to focus in and get the conference win improving them to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in the ODAC.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, March 20 as they travel to Lexington, VA to face the Generals of Washington & Lee at 3:30 pm.
