HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (April 9, 2007)– Hampden-Sydney College's tennis team fell to Roanoke College, 8-1, on Monday at the Hampden-Sydney Courts. Several Tigers battled in singles competition but were unable to win their matches. With the loss, Hampden-Sydney drops to 8-5 on the season and 4-4 in the ODAC, while the Maroons improve to 10-6 overall and 6-1 in the conference.

Hampden-Sydney's William Moss (Fredericksburg, VA/Fredericksburg) earned the lone victory for the Tigers as he defeated Kyle Allen, 6-2, 6-1 in #1 singles competition. Richie Holzapfel (Hagerstown, MD/St. Maria Goretti) and Andrew McLeod (Mandeville, Jamaica/Manchester) battled in singles competition but fell short.

The Tigers return to action on Wednesday, April 11, as the Tigers will travel to Ashland, VA to face ODAC-rival Randolph-Macon College in the regular-season finale. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm.
