HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (April 3, 2007)–Hampden-Sydney's tennis team fell to Guilford College, 6-3, on Tuesday at the Hampden-Sydney tennis courts. The Tigers were able to win in #1 and #3 singles, but Guilford won the other four singles and two-of-three doubles. With the loss, the Tigers drop to 6-4 on the season and 3-3 in the conference, while the Quakers improve to 6-4 overall and 4-2 in the ODAC.

Freshman William Moss (Fredericksburg, VA/Fredericksburg) was once again victorious as he improved to 7-1 overall (5-0 ODAC) in #1 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over the Quakers' Jose Ortiz. Also scoring a victory in singles competition was James Labrot (Savannah, GA/Savannah Country Day). Moss and Richie Holzapfel (Hagerstown, MD/St. Maria Goretti) scored a 8-6 victory in #1 doubles.

The Tigers return to action on Thursday, April 5, as Hampden-Sydney will host ODAC-foe Eastern Mennonite University at the H-SC tennis courts. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm.
