#20 GENERALS DEFEAT TENNIS TIGERS, 8-1

LEXINGTON, VA (March 7, 2007)– The Hampden-Sydney College tennis team lost its first Old Dominion Athletic Conference match against Washington and Lee in Lexington, VA on Wednesday. The Generals are ranked 20th nationally and improve to 6-1 (4-0 ODAC) on the season, while Hampden-Sydney drops to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

Washington and Lee swept the doubles portion of the match, but in singles competition, the Tigers proved to be a worthy adversary as the Tigers played well against stiff competition. Freshman William Moss (Fredericksburg, VA/Fredericksburg) defeated Tim Ross 6-4, 6-2 in #1 singles, while James Labrot (Savannah, GA/Savannah Country Day) played well but was defeated by Seth Feibelman, who has played #1 singles for the Generals this season.

The Tigers return to action on Monday, March 19 as the Tigers will host ODAC-foe Lynchburg College at the Hampden-Sydney tennis courts. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm.
