BRIDGEWATER, VA (March 29, 2007)–Hampden-Sydney's tennis team returned to its winning ways on Thursday as the Tigers scored a 6-3 victory over ODAC-foe Bridgewater College. The Tigers pulled out many tough matches, including solid victories in #5 and #6 singles. With the win, the Tigers improve to 5-3 on the season and 3-2 in the conference, while the Eagles fall to 6-4 overall and 4-2 in the ODAC.
Freshman William Moss (Fredericksburg, VA/Fredericksburg) improved to 6-1 overall (4-0 ODAC) in #1 singles as he scored a 6-3, 6-2 victory over the Eagles' Brian Remsch. Also scoring victories in singles competition were James Labrot (Savannah, GA/Savannah Country Day), Andrew McLeod (Mandeville, Jamaica/Manchester), and Bruce Meyer (Richmond, VA/Monacan). The Tigers took two of three matches in doubles competition, scoring an 8-4 victory in #1 doubles and an 8-5 win in #2 doubles.
The Tigers return to action on Monday, April 2, as Hampden-Sydney will face North Carolina Wesleyan College at the H-SC tennis courts. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm.
