Luke Combs & Groves Williams Named To 2026 CSC Academic All-District® At-Large Team

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College men's golf sophomores Luke Combs (Newport News) and Groves Williams (Greenville, SC) have each been named a member of the 2025-26 Academic All-District® At-Large Team as selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC) for NCAA Division III. The team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom.

Luke Combs is an economics and business major, and minors in rhetoric, with a 3.60 GPA. A Dean's List student, Luke is a recipient of both the Drescher and For The Bottom Scholarships, and is a member of the College's Boaters Club and the Bass Fishing Club, while a soon to be two-time member of the ODAC All-Academic Team (2024-25, 2025-26). On the course, Combs ranked 156th in NCAA Division III and 58th in Region IV with his team-best 74.97 scoring average (73.1 adjusted) through 10 tournaments and 30 rounds this year. He posted season-low scores of 70 (3X) for 18 holes and 140 (70-70) for 36 holes, along with a collegiate-best 216 (70-70-76) for 54 holes. Luke tied for 25th at the 2026 ODAC Championships, posting 77-84-75—236. Overall, he earned two top 20 individual finishes with four rounds of par or better, and led the team in three events this year, while a Third Team All-ODAC selection.

Groves Williams is also an economics and business major, and minors in rhetoric, as well, with a 3.56 GPA. A Dean's List student, Groves is also a soon to be two-time member of the ODAC All-Academic Team (2024-25, 2025-26). On the course, Williams ranked 139th in Division III and 52nd in Region IV with his 75.11 scoring average (73.4 adjusted) through seven tournaments and 18 rounds this year. He posted collegiate-low scores of 67 for 18 holes, 143 (67-76) for 36 holes and 219 (74-70-75) for 54 holes. Groves tied for sixth at the 2026 ODAC Championships, posting 80-73-76—229, earning All-Tournament Team honors for this top six finish. Overall, he earned two top five and three top 10 among for top 20 finishes overall with four rounds of par or better, and led the team in four events this year.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
