AMHERST, Va. -- Sophomore
Garnett Hall (Richmond) posted a first-round score of two-over par 74 on Sunday to lead Hampden-Sydney College to a round of 310 at the
2026 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men's Golf Championships being played at the Poplar Grove Golf Club in Amherst. The Tigers stand third among the 10 conference teams, while Hall is tied for fifth individually among the 50 collegiate golfers.
Hall had four birdies and eight pars during his opening round at the par 72, 7,082-yard course, and is being followed by sophomore classmates
Luke Combs (Newport News) (77, T-11th) and
Oliver Tobin (Charlotte, NC) (79, T-15th), as well as junior team captain
Jack Barnes (Manakin Sabot) (80, T-23rd) and sophomore
Groves Williams (Greenville, SC) (80, T-23rd). Combs had three birdies and eight pars. Tobin had one birdie and 11 pars. Barnes had one birdie and 10 pars. Williams had two birdies and eight pars.
Washington and Lee University, ranked fifth nationally, is leading the championships with its team round of 304, while the University of Lynchburg, ranked 17th nationally, stands second with its 305. Brayden Tritsch of Virginia Wesleyan University is the individual leader at one-under par 71.
H-SC will continue its competition in the three-day, 54-hole tournament on Monday, April 20, with tee-times beginning at 10:50 a.m. in Amherst.
