Luke Combs (Newport News) posted a third-round score of two-over par 74 on Tuesday to lead Hampden-Sydney College to a final round of 308 and a 54-hole score of 909 (302-299-308) at the
Tiger Invitational hosted by the Garnet & Grey and played at the Forest Creek Golf Club in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Combs led the Tigers with his 74-70-74—218 that tied for 24th individually among the 100 collegiate golfers. H-SC tied for 18th among the highly competitive field that featured 11 schools ranked among the Top 25 in the latest

Combs had two birdies and 12 pars during his final round on the 6,952-yard, par 72 course, finishing with nine birdies and 36 pars, and was followed by junior team captain

Pierce Lambert had two birdies and eight pars, finishing with six birdies and 28 pars. Bernard had one birdie and nine pars, finishing with one birdie and 35 pars.
Barnes tied for seventh among the tournament field in par 5 scoring (4.58, -5). Combs tied for 12th in par 3 scoring (3.00, E), tied for 17th in par 5 scoring (4.75, -3), tied for 21st in birdies and tied for 22nd in pars.
No. 11 Methodist (NC) University won the event with its 13-under par 286-281-284—851, while sixth-ranked Kevin Mu of No. 2 Emory (GA) University was the individual medalist at 10-under par 68-69-69—206.
H-SC will play again at the three-day, 54-hole
Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational on March 20-22 at the Jekyll Island Golf Club in Georgia.
The Tigers' B Team competed in the same event, and was led by junior
Peyton Lambert (Hartfield) with his collegiate-best 54-hole score of 70-77-73—220 that led to a team score of 909 (302-302-305, T-18th).
Peyton Lambert had three birdies and 11 pars during his final round, finishing with nine birdies and 33 pars, and was followed by sophomore
Oliver Tobin (Charlotte, NC) (78-76-73—227, T-62nd), sophomore
Garnett Hall (Richmond) (74-73-81—228, T-67th), along with sophomore

Hudson Griffin (Pinehurst, NC) (79-76-80—237, T-92nd). Tobin had three birdies and 11 pars, finishing with six birdies and 32 pars. Hall had 11 pars, finishing with five birdies and 35 pars. Acree had two birdies and nine pars, finishing with five birdies and 30 pars. Griffin had one birdie and nine pars, finishing with four birdies and 31 pars.
Hall tied for 12th in par 3 scoring (3.00, E) and tied for 22nd in pars.
Peyton Lambert tied for 21st in birdies and tied for 24th in par 3 scoring (3.08, +1).

FOXFIRE VILLAGE, N.C. -- H-SC's C and D Golf Teams competed at the
Hampden-Sydney Invitational at Foxfire hosted by the program, as well, and played at the Foxfire Golf Club in Foxfire Village, North Carolina. Sophomore
Groves Williams (Greenville, SC) posted an 18-hole score of 73 on Tuesday to lead the C Team to final round of 308 and a 36-hole team score of 628 (320-308), as the C Team finished ninth among 14 teams.
Junior
Joseph Weinstein (Midlothian) led the C Team with his two-round score of 76-75—151 that tied for 32nd individually among 122 golfers. Weinstein had two birdies and 12 pars during his round on the 6,755-yard, par 72 course, finishing with four birdies and 22 pars. He was followed by Williams (81-73—154, T-41st), senior
Jack Hoyle (Midlothian) (80-78—158, T-65th), freshman

Tucker Smith (Richmond) (85-94—179, T-113th). Williams had four birdies and nine pars, finishing with eight birdies and 16 pars. Hoyle had three birdies and eight pars, finishing with three birdies and 19 pars. Hahn had two birdies and six pars, finishing with two birdies and 17 pars.
Tucker Smith had one birdie and five pars, finishing with his double-eagle in the first round that tied for first in eagles, along with one birdie and eight pars.
Williams tied for seventh in birdies and tied for 15th in par 5 scoring (4.75, -2). Hahn tied for 13th in par 3 scoring (3.00, E). Weinstein tied for 15th in par 5 scoring (4.75, -2), tied for 22nd in pars and tied for 24th in par 3 scoring (3.13, +1).

Cole Wright (Wake Forest, NC) posted an 18-hole score of 82 to lead the D Team to a round of 358 for a 36-hole team score of 690 (332-358), as the D Team finished 14th. Wright led the squad with his 75-82—157 that tied for 57th. He had two birdies and seven pars, finishing with four birdies and 18 pars, and tied for 21st in par 4 scoring (4.15, +3). Ryan Smith (Atlanta, GA) (82-78—160, T-77th) competed as an individual in the event, and had one birdie and 11 pars, finishing with one birdie and 22 pars.
Ryan Smith tied for 22nd in pars and tied for 24th in par 3 scoring (3.13, +1).
Carnegie Mellon (PA) University's B Team won the event with its 282-286—568, while CMU's Charlie Hubbard was the individual medalist at six-under par 70-68—138.
