Hampden-Sydney Plays At Lynchburg On Wednesday Night At 7 p.m.

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College plays on the road at the University of Lynchburg in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men's basketball action on Wednesday night, February 11, at 7 p.m. in Lynchburg. The visiting Tigers are 13-8 overall, 7-5 in the ODAC (T-5th), with two wins in their last three contests. The host Hornets are 12-9 overall, also 7-5 in the ODAC (T-5th), with three wins in their last four contests. The game can be heard locally on WVHL Radio, Kickin' Country 92.9 FM, and will also be available worldwide on the Internet at wvhl.net or via the TuneIn Radio App, while available to watch at flocollege.com.

Head Coach Caleb Kimbrough
H-SC is led by the seventh-year head coach who took over the program on April 4, 2019. The former head coach at Huntingdon (AL) College from 2016-19, Kimbrough is the 19th head coach in the 116-year history of the storied Hampden-Sydney program. He is no stranger to the ODAC, having played four years at Guilford (NC) College and coached six years with the Quakers, and one year at Washington and Lee University. Kimbrough is 119-52 at the College, ranking sixth in program coaching wins, while his current winning percentage (.696) ranks second all-time. He is a two-time National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III District 6 Coach of the Year (2022-23, 2023-24), was the 2022-23 ODAC Men's Basketball Bob Johnson Coach of the Year and the 2024-25 D3hoops.com Region 6 Coach of the Year.

2025-26 Coaching Staff
Coach Kimbrough is aided this season by second-year associate head coach Bryson Gibson, also in his seventh year with the program, fourth-year assistant coach Carson Long, along with first-year assistant coach Zach Hinton.

Scouting Hampden-Sydney
H-SC defeated ODAC member Shenandoah University 73-64 on Feb. 7 on the new Tony Shaver Court in Diaz Arena at the renovated Kirby Field House. The Tigers have been led by sophomore guard Santana Lynch (Dallas, TX) (11.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, 57% FGs), sophomore guard Peter Moye (Charlotte, NC) (11.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, 36 3FGs), senior guard Colin Radcliffe (Richlands, NC) (10.5 points, 47 3FGs) and sophomore guard Travis Stickney (Mount Pleasant, SC) (10.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 26 3FGs). Lynch and Radcliffe each missed two games last week due to illness, but are expected back this week. Senior forward Shane Fernald (Charlotte, NC) (9.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, 52% FGs) and sophomore guard Tugg Bizzelle (Baltimore, MD) (8.7 points, 14 3FGs) have been contributing consistently, as well. H-SC shoots 46% (575-1258) from the field, including 33% (147-443) on three-point field goals, and 67% (280-421) at the free throw line. The Tigers average 75.1 points, and yield 68.9 points, for a +6.2 scoring margin.

Scouting Lynchburg
Lynchburg, coached by 18th-year head coach Hilliary Scott, defeated ODAC member Averett University 84-73 on Feb. 4 in Lynchburg. The Hornets have been led by sophomore forward Jamarcus Brown (19.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.8 blocks, 57% FGs) and senior forward Jayson Easton (10.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, 49 3FGs). Lynchburg shoots 45% (599-1322) from the field, including 31% (152-488) on three-pointers, and 68% (314-462) at the line. The Hornets average 79.2 points, and yield 73.8 points, for a +5.4 scoring margin.

Series History
H-SC and Lynchburg are playing for the 97th time since formation of the ODAC for the 1976-77 season. The Tigers lead the series at 71-25, including an 87-81 home win last month on January 17 in Diaz Arena for their sixth win in the last eight games between the two schools. The Hornets, however, eliminated the Garnet & Grey from the ODAC Tournament last season with their 72-66 quarterfinal road win on Feb. 26, 2025. Coach Kimbrough is 6-4 against Lynchburg since taking over the program prior to 2019-20, including 3-3 on the road with two-straight wins in Lynchburg.

H-SC ranks second nationally in rebound margin (11.4) and 18th in rebounds per game (43.1).

2025-26 Team Captain
Leading the Tigers is senior guard Grayson Schultz (Moseley), who is a second-year team member serving in the leadership role for the first time. He was a team manager during his first two years at the College, before joining the team for 2024-25. Grayson is the son of Glenn and Paige Schultz and is majoring in economics and business at the College.

Program History
H-SC is competing in its 116th-year of basketball during 2025-26. The Tigers have an overall program record of 1,553-1,110 since beginning in 1908. H-SC has posted 64 winning seasons, 18 seasons with at least 20 wins, six seasons with at least 25 wins, has won a record 11 ODAC Tournament Championships.

NCAA Tournament History
H-SC has made 17 NCAA Tournament appearances since 1989, winning at least one game in 14 of the 17, while compiling an overall NCAA Tournament record of 27-18. The Tigers advanced to the Final Four in 1999, 2003 and 2024, and to the National Championship in 1999 and 2024. H-SC was National Runner-Up in 1999, falling to UW-Platteville 76-75 in double-overtime, and in 2024, falling to Trine (IN) 69-61. The Tigers fell to Gustavus Adolphus (MN) 79-68 in the 2003 National Semifinals. H-SC advanced to the Elite Eight in 1995, 1998, 1999, 2003 and 2024, while reaching the Sweet 16 in 1992, 1994, 1995, 1998, 1999, 2003, 2024 and 2025. The Tigers have hosted 24 NCAA Tournament games since 1992, compiling an impressive record of 19-5.

Former Tigers Now Division I Head Coaches
H-SC currently has two former basketball team members and graduates of the College that are serving as NCAA Division I head coaches. Russell Turner '92 is in his 16th year at UC Irvine and Ryan Odom '96 is in his first season at Virginia and his 10th season as a DI head coach (UMBC, Utah State, VCU). Through Feb. 9, Turner was 337-195 at UCI (16-8 this season) and Odom was 221-120 overall, including 20-3 this season at (15/15)UVA, 52-21 in two years at VCU, 44-25 in two years at USU and 97-60 in five years at UMBC. Griff Aldrich '96 is in his first season as the associate head coach at UVA after serving as head coach at Longwood the past seven seasons where he was 127-100 overall. Additionally, Ryan Silverfield '03 was named the 35th head football coach at Arkansas on November 30. Silverfield was 50-25 in six years at Memphis, including 8-4 this season.

Up Next
H-SC plays its final road game of the regular season at ODAC member Guilford on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 2 p.m. in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Tigers then close the regular season at home in the friendly confines of Diaz Arena with two ODAC games, including Randolph on Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. and Washington and Lee on Feb. 21 at 2 p.m. for Senior Day.
