HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College, receiving votes in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25, plays on the road at Bridgewater College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball action on Saturday afternoon, January 10, at 2 p.m. in Bridgewater. The visiting Tigers are 8-4 overall, 2-1 in the ODAC, while the host Eagles are 6-6 overall, 2-1 in the ODAC. It's the first of two consecutive among the next four out of five conference road games this month. Head Coach Caleb Kimbrough
H-SC is led by the seventh-year head coach who took over the program on April 4, 2019. The former head coach at Huntingdon (AL) College from 2016-19, Kimbrough is the 19th head coach in the 116-year history of the storied Hampden-Sydney program. He is no stranger to the ODAC, having played four years at Guilford (NC) College and coached six years with the Quakers, and one year at Washington and Lee University. Kimbrough is 114-48 at the College, ranking sixth in program coaching wins, while his current winning percentage (.704) ranks second all-time. He is a two-time National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III District 6 Coach of the Year (2022-23, 2023-24), was the 2022-23 ODAC Men's Basketball Bob Johnson Coach of the Year and the 2024-25 D3hoops.com Region 6 Coach of the Year.

2025-26 Coaching Staff
Coach Kimbrough is aided this season by second-year associate head coach Bryson Gibson, also in his seventh year with the program, fourth-year assistant coach Carson Long, along with first-year assistant coach Zach Hinton.

H-SC rallied from a 16-point halftime deficit with a 59-point second half for a 92-79 come-from-behind home win past Guilford on Jan. 7 on the new Tony Shaver Court in Diaz Arena at the renovated Kirby Field House. The Tigers have been led by a trio of sophomore guards in Santana Lynch (Dallas, TX) (12.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, 60% FGs), Peter Moye (Charlotte, NC) (11.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 21-3FGs, 92% FTs) and Travis Stickney (Mount Pleasant, SC) (11.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 15-3FGs). Senior guard Colin Radcliffe (Richlands, NC) (9.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, 24-3FGs), sophomore guard Tugg Bizzelle (Baltimore, MD) (9.6 points, 10-3FGs), senior forward Shane Fernald (Charlotte, NC) (7.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists) and junior center Alex Cannon (Loganville, GA) (5.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, 60% FGs) are contributing significantly, as well. H-SC shoots 45% (329-725) from the field, including 33% (80-242) on three-point field goals, and 64% (168-261) at the free throw line. The Tigers average 75.5 points, and yield 70.4 points, for a +5.1 scoring margin. 

Scouting Bridgewater
BC, coached by second-year head coach Mike Maczko, won its most recent game past Randolph College 87-76 on Jan. 7 at home. The Eagles have been led by junior guard Jahmir Brown (13.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 51% FGs). BC shoots 44% (293-666) from the field, including 31% (75-241) on three-pointers, and 67% (143-214) at the line. The Eagles average 67.0 points, and yield 68.5 points, for a -1.5 scoring margin.

Series History
H-SC and BC are playing for the 88th time as ODAC opponents since the 1976-77 season, and the Tigers lead the series at 55-32. H-SC has won four-straight, and six of the last seven games played between the two schools, including two wins last season ... an 83-62 road win on February 8, 2025 and a 75-68 home win on Jan. 10, 2025. H-SC has also won four consecutive games in Bridgewater ... the Eagles last winning at home against the Tigers on Feb. 10, 2018 (73-60).

Beyond The Arc
Colin Radcliffe has heated-up from beyond the arc over the last three games, shooting 47% (14-30) on three-point field goals, while averaging 16.7 points. He scored a season-high 25 points vs. Guilford (1/7), including a career-high seven three-pointers (7-13). Overall, Radcliffe is averaging 9.8 points and 2.1 rebounds, while shooting 39% (41-105) from the field, including 33% (24-72) on three-pointers, and 79% (11-14) at the free throw line. He has six double-figure scoring games, including three-straight—the season-high 25 points among them.

Another Level
Santana Lynch has taken his game to another level this season ... averaging 12.5 points and 7.7 rebounds, while shooting 60% (58-96) from the field and 67% (31-46) at the free throw line. He has a team-best 10 double-figure scoring games, including a career-high 19 points vs. Pfeiffer (11/23). Lynch also has a team-best four double-figure rebounding games, including a career-high 14 rebounds vs. Guilford (1/7). Santana was limited to four games early last season before a season-ending injury in December.

Another Level 2.0
Peter Moye has also taken his game to another level this season ... averaging 11.8 points and 4.3 rebounds, while shooting 47% (49-105) from the field, including 39% (21-54) on three-point field goals, and 92% (22-24) at the free throw line. He has nine double-figure scoring games, including a career-high 21 points at Eastern Mennonite (12/6)—making a career-high five three-pointers. Moye also grabbed a career-high of eight rebounds vs. Wilson (12/19). Peter played in 23 games last season, averaging 4.5 points and 1.8 rebounds.

Mr. Consistency
Travis Stickney remains steady and consistent in his second year starting—he has started all 41 games of his collegiate career—averaging 11.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists this season, while shooting 39% (50-128) from the field, including 28% (15-53) on three-point field goals, and 81% (21-26) at the free throw line. He has six double-figure scoring games, including a career-high 30 points vs. (11)Redlands (12/20), and also has career-highs of 10 rebounds vs. Wilson (12/19), 11 assists vs. Guilford (1/7) and seven steals vs. (7)UW-La Crosse (11/7). Travis started all 29 games last season, averaging 7.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

Another Level 3.0
Tugg Bizzelle has taken his game to another level this season, as well ... averaging 9.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists, while shooting 42% (42-99) from the field, including 39% (10-26) on three-point field goals, and 53% (21-40) at the free throw line. He has five double-figure scoring games, including a career-high 19 points at Salisbury (11/12)—making a career-high five three-pointers. Bizzelle also grabbed a career-high eight rebounds at Salisbury (11/12), and has equaled his season-high with four assists on three occasions, most recent at (2)Randolph-Macon (12/3). Tugg started three of 29 games last season, averaging 3.1 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

Blocking Skills
At 6-9, Alex Cannon has the height not typically found on a Division III roster, and he is taking full advantage this season as evidenced by his 24 blocks ... averaging 2.0 blocks per game that leads the ODAC and ranks 29th nationally. He has started (the last) nine of 12 games, and is averaging career-highs of 5.6 points and 6.6 rebounds, while shooting 60% (29-48) from the field. He has posted career-highs of 10 points vs. (11)Redlands (12/20) and 12 rebounds vs. Guilford (1/7), along with a season-high four blocks on two occasions, most recent vs. (11)Redlands (12/20).

NCAA Division III Statistics (Top 10)
H-SC leads Division III in rebound margin (12.8), and ranks fifth nationally in rebounds per game (45.8) and ninth in defensive rebounds (31.1).

D3hoops.com Top 25 
H-SC is receiving votes (61) in the week five D3hoops.com Top 25 of Jan. 5. The Garnet & Grey were ranked 17th in preseason, and have been as high as No. 8 in week two, while ranked 16th in week four (Dec. 15). Defending National Champion Trinity (CT) College (11-0) has remained at No. 1 all season, currently with 617 points and 24 of 25 first-place votes.

Scheduling Toughness
H-SC has six opponents on the schedule that are currently ranked among the D3hoops.com Top 25, including No. 2 Randolph-Macon, No. 3 Emory, No. 6 UW-La Crosse, No. 12 Redlands, No. 15 Roanoke and Maryville (TN), also receiving votes. The Team Three-Point Stat
H-SC has made at least one three-point field goal in 534 consecutive games, dating back to a 2005 home game vs. Emory & Henry (12/3, 0-1 3FGA). Ironically, the Tigers won that high-scoring contest ... 130-99 without making a three-pointer.

2025-26 Team Captain
Leading the Tigers is senior guard Grayson Schultz (Moseley), who is a second-year team member serving in the leadership role for the first time. He was a team manager during his first two years at the College, before joining the team for 2024-25. Grayson is the son of Glenn and Paige Schultz and is majoring in economics and business at the College.

Program History
H-SC is competing in its 116th-year of basketball during 2025-26. The Tigers have an overall program record of 1,548-1,106 since beginning in 1908. H-SC has posted 64 winning seasons, 18 seasons with at least 20 wins, six seasons with at least 25 wins, has won a record 11 ODAC Tournament Championships.

NCAA Tournament History
H-SC has made 17 NCAA Tournament appearances since 1989, winning at least one game in 14 of the 17 years, while compiling an overall NCAA Tournament record of 27-18. The Tigers advanced to the Final Four in 1999, 2003 and 2024, and to the National Championship in 1999 and 2024. H-SC was National Runner-Up in 2024, falling to Trine (IN) 69-61, as well as in 1999, falling to UW-Platteville 76-75 in double-overtime. The Tigers fell to Gustavus Adolphus (MN) 79-68 in the 2003 National Semifinals. H-SC advanced to the Elite Eight in 1995, 1998, 1999, 2003 and 2024, while reaching the Sweet 16 in 1992, 1994, 1995, 1998, 1999, 2003, 2024 and 2025. The Tigers have hosted 24 NCAA Tournament games since 1992, compiling an impressive record of 19-5.

Former Tigers Now Division I Head Coaches
H-SC currently has two former basketball team members and graduates of the College that are serving as NCAA Division I head coaches. Russell Turner '92 is in his 16th year at UC Irvine and Ryan Odom '96 is in his first season at Virginia and his 10th season as a DI head coach (UMBC, Utah State, VCU). Through Jan. 7, Turner was 332-192 at UCI (11-5 this season) and Odom was 214-119 overall, including 13-2 this season at (23/23)UVA, 52-21 in two years at VCU, 44-25 in two years at USU and 97-60 in five years at UMBC. Griff Aldrich '96 is in his first season as the associate head coach at UVA after serving as head coach at Longwood the past seven seasons where he was 127-100 overall. Additionally, Ryan Silverfield '03 was named the 35th head football coach at Arkansas on November 30. Silverfield was 50-25 in six years at Memphis, including 8-4 this season.
