Colin Radcliffe (Richlands, NC) scored a season-high 25 points—all in the second half—including seven three-point field goals, to lead (RV)Hampden-Sydney College to a 92-79 come-from-behind Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men's basketball home win past Guilford (NC) College on Wednesday night on the new Tony Shaver Court in Diaz Arena at the renovated Kirby Field House. The host Tigers trailed 49-33 at halftime, before using a 27-11 run to begin the second half and tie it at 60-60 with 11:21 remaining, while outscoring the visiting Quakers 59-30 in the second half. H-SC improved to 8-4 overall, 2-1 in the ODAC, while GC dropped to 6-6 overall, 0-3 in the ODAC, while led by Gabe Proctor with a game-high 28 points, including eight three-pointers.

D3hoops.com Top 25, and defending ODAC Tournament Champion GC played evenly to begin the contest as it was tied at 11-11 with 12:55 on the first-half clock after a three-pointer by Moye, who scored five quick points. A three-pointer from Proctor had the Quakers ahead 20-13 at 10:24, but Moye answered with another three-pointer of his own at 10:10, and it was still a four-point game at 22-18 following a driving layup by sophomore guard
Travis Stickney (Mount Pleasant, SC) with 9:32 left in the half. GC, however, closed the opening 20 minutes on a 27-15 run to lead 49-33 at the intermission … behind 15 first-half points from Braylen Salters and 12 points by Proctor.
GC scored the first basket of the second half to take its largest lead of the contest at 51-33 with 19:49 remaining, and the Quakers still led 55-37 at 17:55 after steal and layup by Salters. H-SC, however, got consecutive three-pointers from Radcliffe to jump-start a 12-0 run that Lynch finished with a fastbreak slam dunk that made it 55-49 at 14:48. The Tigers extended their outburst to 23-5 to tie it at 60-60 with 11:21 left to play as Radcliffe added another three-pointer and Lynch closing with three-straight layups. The Quakers led 65-60 at 10:22, but that would be it for the visitors … as the home team took the lead for good at 66-65 with 9:10 remaining after two more three-pointers by Radcliffe. GC was within 70-67 at 8:03, and 75-71 after a three-pointer by Proctor at 5:42, before H-SC scored seven unanswered points to lead 82-71 with 4:08 on clock—getting baskets from Lynch and Moye ahead of yet another three-pointer by Radcliffe. It was no closer than seven points down the stretch as the Garnet & Grey closed with the final six points, including slam dunks by junior center

Stickney finished with four points, nine rebounds, a career-high and game-high 11 assists and two steals. Cannon had six points and a career-high 12 rebounds. H-SC shot 46% (36-78) from the field, including 33% (10-30) on three-pointers, and 56% (10-18) at the free throw line. The Tigers enjoyed a 46-16 advantage in points scored in the paint, a 39-11 advantage in bench points and a 36-14 advantage in fastbreak points.
Proctor led GC with his game-high 28 points, including 8-14 three-pointers. Salters finished with 19 points for the Quakers, adding eight rebounds and four assists, while Rival Axselle had 12 points and a game-high three steals. GC shot 35% (27-77) from the field, including 36% (14-39) on three-pointers, and 65% (11-17) at the line.
H-SC limited GC to 18 points below its season scoring average of 97.2 points entering the contest, and Coach Kimbrough is now 5-0 at home against his alma mater since taking over the Tigers' program prior to 2019-20.
H-SC will play on the road at ODAC member Bridgewater College on Saturday, January 10, at 2 p.m. in Bridgewater.
