HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College (7-1-0, 1-0-0) has been ranked No. 23 in this week's
United Soccer Coaches Division III Men's Soccer Top 25. It is the first time the Tigers have been ranked in the poll since November 3, 1997, and just the third time ever ranked. It is the second-highest ranking they have ever achieved, just behind their previous best of 22nd in that November 3 poll.
H-SC, under the leadership of ninth-year head coach

Four of the seven wins have been shutouts, including a 3-0 win over then No. 24 University of Mary Washington. The lone loss this season has come on the road against Christopher Newport University, which is ranked No. 5 currently.
Denison (OH) University (8-0-1) tops the rankings for the fourth straight week. The Big Red are followed in the Top 10 by Emory (GA) University (10-0-0), Augsburg (MN) University (10-0-0), Williams (MA) College (5-0-3), Christopher Newport (7-0-2), Trinity (TX) University (7-1-0), Wheaton (MA) College (7-0-2), Dickinson (PA) College (7-0-3), Cortland (NY) (6-1-2), and Rowan (NJ) University (7-2-1).
H-SC is one of three ODAC schools within the poll, with Virginia Wesleyan University (6-1-1) ranked 20th, and the University of Lynchburg (6-0-2) ranked 22nd. The Tigers have already played the VWU this season, winning 2-1 on the road on September 13, in a game designated as non-conference.
