Gate City Invitational being played at the Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. Junior
Jack Barnes (Manakin Sabot) is leading the Tigers with his 75-74—149 that is tied for 46th individually among the 96 collegiate golfers.
Barnes had six birdies and 18 pars during his opening two rounds on the 7,020-yard, par 72 layout and is being followed by sophomore
Luke Combs (Newport News) (74-77—151, T-55th), junior
Nick Bernard (Southern Shores, NC) (78-75—153, T-67th) and sophomore
Oliver Tobin (Charlotte, NC) (75-78—153, T-67th), along with freshman
Matthew Teegardin (Charleston, SC) (79-78—157, T-80th).
Sewanee (TN), ranked fifth in the Bushnell/Golfweek DIII Coaches Poll, is leading the event with its seven-under par 285-284—569, while Jonathan McEwen of second-ranked Washington and Lee University is the individual leader after 36 holes at eight-under par 64-72—136. The Garnet & Grey are ranked 19th in the first national coaches poll of 2025-26.
H-SC will continue and complete its competition in the three-day, 54-hole tournament on Tuesday, September 16, in Greensboro.
