2025 ROSTER | 2025 SCHEDULE | 2025 COACHING STAFF

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. --
Hampden-Sydney College will open its 2025 Baseball campaign on the road at non-conference opponent Greensboro College on Tuesday afternoon, February 18, at 4 p.m. in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Tigers return 27 lettermen, including 13 with pitching appearances—five with starting experience—and have added 18 newcomers to the program. H-SC was picked ninth in the ODAC Preseason Poll, and the Garnet & Grey are anxious to get started and write their own story this spring.

"The staff is extremely excited to get on the field with this team," said first-year head coach Michael Mulvey. "They have embraced every change we've made over the last few months. We're extremely proud of the off-season jumps the team has made and look forward to seeing it on the field. They are hungry to prove something.

"Our non-conference schedule has some very talented programs that will prepare us as we get into ODAC play in March. We will look for run production from a mostly veteran lineup.  On the bump, there will be a healthy mix of young and older arms that we will rely on to win games.  I'm proud of our leadership and where this team is headed."

Coach Mulvey expects to begin the season around the infield with a mostly experienced group in senior team captain Grayson Harris (Moseley) (.391, 1 HR, 8 2Bs, 14 RBIs) at first base, junior Turner Fitzpatrick (Richmond) (.143, 3 RBIs) at second base, junior Matthew Arnold (Danville) (.330, 9 2Bs, 20 RBIs) at third base and senior Jaxon Masterson (Raleigh, NC) (.307, 4 2Bs, 16 RBIs) at shortstop. Infield depth will initially come from sophomore Jase Howell (Portsmouth) (.264, 1 HR, 2 2Bs, 15 RBIs) at first base and junior Hunter Powell (Ridgeway) (.333, 1 RBI) at third base.

It's also a veteran group starting in the outfield with senior Christian Chambers (Midlothian) (.184, 2 2Bs, 7 RBIs) in left field, junior team captain Jack Wilson (Petersburg) (.304, 4 HRs, 7 2Bs, 25 RBIs) in center field and senior team captain and returning All-ODAC honoree Christian Lancaster (Danville) (.339, 1 HR, 1 HR, 10 2Bs, 33 RBIs) in right field. Outfield depth begins with sophomore Jake Moore (Dry Fork) (.415, 2 HRs, 1 2B, 16 RBIs) in left, junior Greer Farr (Southern Shores, NC) (.340, 3 HRs, 2 2Bs, 15 RBIs) in center and junior team captain Chase Sanford (Mechanicsville) (.250, 1 RBI) in right. Farr will serve as the designated hitter, as well.

Freshman Robert Chapman (Woodbridge) will open the season behind the plate at catcher, with depth provided by sophomores Noah Leonard (Troutville) and transfer Ian Martin (Martinsville), the latter attending and playing at King (TN) University last year.

H-SC will open the season on the mound with a starting rotation of junior right-hander Sterling Austin (Petersburg) (2-4, 5.11 ERA, 56.1 IP, 32K), freshman right-hander Brady Wilson (Virginia Beach) and freshman left-hander Bobby Holihan (Yorktown). The bullpen will initially feature junior right-hander and team captain Alex Fitz-Hugh (Chesterfield) (1-1, 4 Saves, 3.32 ERA, 19 IP, 21 K), right-hander Jase Howell (1-1, 6.23 ERA, 4.1 IP, 1K) and sophomore left-hander Adam Emhoff (Chesapeake) (2-4, 13.94 ERA, 20.2 IP, 24K).

Coach Mulvey is assisted by Chad Wien, Billy Catron and Phil Pfeiffer.

The Tigers are scheduled to open their home campaign with a three-game non-conference series against visiting Franklin & Marshall (PA) College on Feb. 22-23 to include a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 1 p.m. and a single game on Sunday, Feb. 23, at 12 p.m. on Yank Bernier Field at the Ty Cobb Ballpark – Wurdeman Stadium.
