HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College (8-1-1, 2-0-1) has been ranked No. 21 in this week's United Soccer Coaches Division III Men's Soccer Top 25. It is the second consecutive week in the poll after being ranked 23rd last week. The ranking of 21st is the highest in program history, with 22nd being the previous high on November 3, 1997.

H-SC, under the leadership of ninth-year head coach Tommy DiNuzzo, has won eight of its first 10 games. The Tigers have outscored opponents 24 to seven on the season, averaging 2.4 goals per game while allowing .7. Five of the eight wins have been shutouts, including a 3-0 win over then No. 24 University of Mary Washington. The lone loss this season has come on the road against Christopher Newport University, which is ranked No. 20 currently.

Williams (MA) College (7-0-3) tops the rankings for the first time this season. The Ephs are followed in the Top 10 by Emory (GA) University (10-0-1), Denison (OH) University (9-0-1), Wheaton (MA) College (9-0-2), Tufts (MA) University (7-1-2), Trinity (TX) University (9-1-0), Washington (MO) University (9-1-2), St. Olaf (MN) College (10-1-2), Dickinson (PA) College (8-0-4), and Augsburg (MN) University (11-1-0).

H-SC is one of two ODAC schools within the poll, with the University of Lynchburg (8-0-2) ranked 17th. Virginia Wesleyan University is the only other ODAC school receiving recognition from the poll, with it receiving votes. The Tigers have already played the VWU this season, winning 2-1 on the road on September 13 in a game designated as non-conference.
