HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College, ranked No. 8 in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25, plays on the road at Randolph College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action on Wednesday night, January 22, at 7:30 p.m. in Lynchburg. The nationally-ranked Tigers are 13-3 overall, 6-1 in the ODAC, following a 74-69 non-conference road win at the University of Mary Washington on Jan. 18 in Fredericksburg. The WildCats are 5-10 overall, 1-7 in the ODAC, after a 79-69 home loss to Eastern Mennonite University on Jan. 18 in Lynchburg. The midweek game can be heard locally on WVHL Radio, Kickin' Country 92.9 FM—pregame at approximately 7 p.m. following a women's basketball contest at 5 p.m., and will also be available worldwide on the Internet at wvhl.net or via the TuneIn Radio App, while available to watch at WildCats All-Access.

Head Coach Caleb Kimbrough
H-SC is led by the sixth-year head coach who took over the program on April 4, 2019. The former head coach at Huntingdon (AL) College from 2016-19, Kimbrough is the 19th head coach in the 115-year history of the storied Hampden-Sydney program. He is no stranger to the ODAC, having played four years at Guilford (NC) College and coached six years with the Quakers, and one year at Washington and Lee University. Kimbrough is 96-41 at the College, ranking sixth in program coaching wins, while his current winning percentage (.700) ranks second all-time. He is the back-to-back National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III District 6 Coach of the Year (2022-23, 2023-24), and was the 2022-23 ODAC Men's Basketball Bob Johnson Coach of the Year.

H-SC has been led by All-American fifth-year guard and third-year team captain Adam Brazil (Mooresville, NC), who is averaging 20.1 points (33 3FGs, 83% FTs), 3.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists. Junior forward and team captain Shane Fernald (Charlotte, NC) averages 11.5 points (55% FGs), 7.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists, while junior transfer guard and team captain Colin Radcliffe (Richlands, NC) adds 10.1 points (29 3FGs-44%) and 2.4 rebounds. Other top contributors include junior transfer guard Hamilton Campbell (Wytheville) (7.5 points, 16 3FGs, 3.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists), freshman guard Travis Stickney (Mount Pleasant, SC) (6.5 points, 3.6 rebounds), senior guard Nick Shryock (Davidson, NC) (6.3 points, 5.9 rebounds), senior guard Ayman McGowan (Memphis, TN) (5.9 points, 18 3FGs) and freshman forward John Campbell (High Point, NC) (5.4 points, 74% FGs, 2.6 rebounds). H-SC shoots 47% (455-979) from the field, including 33% (121-372) on three-point field goals, and 71% (243-341) at the free throw line. The Tigers are scoring 79.6 points, and yielding 70.1 points, for a +9.5 scoring margin.

Scouting Randolph
Randolph is coached by first-year head coach Evan Kee and has been led by senior guard Jordan Phillips-McLoyd (19.8 points, 31 3FGs, 89% FTs, 4.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists) and sophomore guard/forward Amari Gorham (11.5 points, 60% FGs, 4.3 rebounds). The WildCats shoot 43% (408-960) from the field, including 31% (128-412) on three-pointers, and 72% (228-315) at the line. Randolph is scoring 78.1 points, and yielding 81.4 points, for a -3.3 scoring margin.

Series History
H-SC leads the all-time series between the two schools, 13-7. The Tigers have won five-straight and six of seven in the series, including two games last season by scores of 77-63 on Jan. 17 in Lynchburg and 78-68 on February 10, 2024. Randolph won the first-ever contest between the two schools, 57-49, on Jan. 28, 2009 in Lynchburg, and the WildCats are 6-4 at home versus H-SC.

Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List
Adam Brazil
was named to the 2024-25 Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List on Jan. 15. The Clarence "Bevo" Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within NCAA Divisions II and III, NAIA, USCAA and NCCAA. Adam is the second-straight finalist from the program, as Davidson Hubbard '24 made the 2023-24 Watch List.

is playing five of eight games this month away from home, and within a span of 18 days (Jan. 4-22). The Tigers are 37-20 (.649) on the road under Coach Kimbrough since 2019-20, including 6-1 this season and 3-1 this month.

Adam Brazil
is 13th in program history with 1,380 career points in 109 career games, and is eighth in career assists with 339. He adds 132 career steals and 221 career three-pointers. Russell Turner '92—the current head coach at UC Irvine—is the all-time scoring leader (2,272).

is ranked No. 8 nationally in the week seven D3hoops.com Top 25 (1/20). The Tigers, ranked 23rd in the preseason, 13th in week one, 12th in week two, 9th in week three, 7th in week four, eighth in week five and 10th in week six, earned 410 points in this week's rankings. The University of Wisconsin-Platteville (15-1) is first again this week with 620 points, including 17 first-place votes.

ranks 22nd nationally in winning percentage (81.3), 23rd in assist/turnover ratio (1.47) and 35th in fewest turnovers per game (10.8). Adam Brazil ranks 49th nationally in points (322).

2024-25 Team Captains
Leading the Tigers are fifth-year Adam Brazil, along with juniors Shane Fernald and Colin Radcliffe. Brazil is serving in the leadership role for his third season, while Fernald and Radcliffe are each first-year captains. Adam is the son of Mark and Kristen Brazil and is majoring in English with minors in leadership in the public interest and rhetoric. Shane is the son of the late Jon Fernald and Cathy Smith and is majoring in English with a minor in rhetoric. Colin is the son of Ian and Sarah Radcliffe and is majoring in history.

2024-25 Coaching Staff
Coach Kimbrough is aided again this season by Bryson Gibson, promoted to associate head coach in May, while also in his sixth year with the program, third-year assistant coach Carson Long, along with first-year assistant coach Trevor Loscombe.

The Team Three-Point Stat
H-SC
has made at least one three-point field goal in 509 consecutive games, dating back to a 2005 home game vs. Emory & Henry (12/3, 0-1 3FGA). Ironically, the Tigers won that high-scoring contest 130-99 without making a three-pointer.

Program History
H-SC
is competing in its 115th-year of basketball during 2024-25. The Tigers began this season with an overall program record of 1,517-1,096 since beginning in 1908, and currently total 1,530 wins. H-SC has posted 63 winning seasons, 17 seasons with at least 20 wins, six seasons with at least 25 wins, has won a record 11 ODAC Tournament Championships and has made 16 NCAA Tournament appearances.

Three Former Tigers Are Division I Head Coaches
H-SC currently has three former basketball team members and graduates of the College that are serving as NCAA Division I head coaches. Russell Turner '92 is in his 15th year at UC Irvine ... Ryan Odom '96 is in his second season at VCU and his ninth season as a DI head coach (UMBC, Utah State) ... Griff Aldrich '96 is in his seventh year at Longwood. Through Jan. 20, Turner was 306-182 at UCI (17-2 this season) ... Odom was 197-115 overall, including 38-18 at VCU (14-4  this season), 44-25 in two years at USU and 97-60 in five years at UMBC ... Aldrich was 123-92 at Longwood (14-6 this season). Add fifth-year Memphis head football coach Ryan Silverfield '03 (42-21, 2024 Scooter's Coffee Frisco Bowl Champion, 11-2) and the Tigers have four alumni serving as DI head coaches.
