H-SC rugby Falls To National Power VMI 41-7

Tigers Battle Keydets Tough Until Late

Lexington, VA The Hampden-Sydney Rugby Football Club traveled to Lexington, VA on Saturday to take on Virginia MIlitary Institute (VMI), one of the very best rugby teams in the nation. The Keydets controlled the ball in the first half, only allowing the Tigers ten minutes on offense on the way to 11-0 lead at halftime. In the second half a try by senior Bruton Peacock and a three point penatly kick by senior Graeme Ebert produced eight points for the Tigers, but it was not enough and the lead was stretched out by the VMI in the final quarter of play set the final score at 46-8. The competition remains at a national level this Saturday as two-time national champ Christendom travels to Hampden-Sydney in the Tigers' home opener on Johnny Ellis Field. Kickoff is at 3 pm.
