HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. --Â Hampden-Sydney College eighth-year head soccer coach
Tommy DiNuzzo has announced the program's upcoming 2024 schedule, including 17 games, with 10 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match-ups.
"We are looking forward to the season ahead and are excited for the opportunity to play one of the most difficult schedules in the region and test ourselves early before ODAC play," said DiNuzzo. "The guys have been working hard and we believe we have an excellent mix of returners and newcomers to give us a chance to have a special season."
The Tigers will play two scrimmages before getting the regular season started, traveling to
Christopher Newport University on August 21, before hosting
Richard Bland College on Aug. 24 at 5 p.m.
For the third straight season, H-SC kicks off the regular season with a match-up against
Greensboro (NC) College, hosting the Pride on Friday, Aug. 30 with a 7 p.m. kick off for the Simms/Flowers Classic game. The Tigers close out the opening weekend with a trip to Arlington to take on
Marymount University at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 1.
The Garnet and Grey stay on the road for the next two games, first taking a trip to Georgia to face
Covenant (GA) College at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 6, following that up with a trip to playÂ
Sewanee (TN) on Sept. 7 at 5 p.m. in Sewanee, Tennessee.
H-SC returns back to Virginia on Sept. 13 playing the first of two games in the Preston Hirten Classic, againstÂ
Rhodes (TN) College at 7:30 p.m. followed by the
University of Mount Union (OH) on Sept. 15 at 10:30 a.m., with both games played at City Stadium in Richmond.
The Tigers return home the following weekend for the final non-conference game of the season against
Guilford (NC) College at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21. ODAC play begins with the final game in September, as H-SC travels to rival
Randolph-Macon College on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 4 p.m.
The Garnet and Grey open October with two straight at Hellmuth-Gibson Field, first playing host to
Shenandoah University on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. before playing
Roanoke College on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m.
H-SC goes on the road for the next week, starting with a trip to Ferrum to take on
Ferrum College at 7 p.m. on Oct. 9, before heading north to play
Bridgewater College on Saturday, Oct. 12 with a 4 p.m. kick-off.
H-SC returns home for a Wednesday night clash with
Eastern Mennonite University at 7 p.m. on Oct. 16, before heading to Lynchburg for a match-up with
Randolph College on Saturday, Oct. 19, and the
University of Lynchburg on Wednesday, Oct. 23, with both games taking place at 7 p.m.
The Tigers close out the regular season with a pair of home games, first against
Averett University on Saturday, Oct. 26, and finishing with a match-up against
Virginia Wesleyan University on Wednesday, Oct. 30, both games kicking off at 7 p.m.
H-SC completed 2023 with a 6-6-6 overall record, 3-3-4 in the ODAC. Coach DiNuzzo has won 57 games in seven seasons with the program, including 33 ODAC wins. The team is coming off a trip to the ODAC Tournament and has qualified for the ODAC Tournament in six of the past seven seasons, including two ODAC regular season championships (2019, 2020).Â
