WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Nationally-ranked No. 21 Hampden-Sydney College posted a round of 290 on Monday for a 36-hole team score of 595 (305-290) to move up four spots and stand second among 11 teams at the
2024 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships being played at The Green Course at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in Williamsburg. Freshman
Jack Barnes (Manakin Sabot) continues to lead the Tigers with his consistent two-over par 73-73--146 that has him tied for third individually among the 55 conference golfers. The team second-round 290 is also the low round of the championships as the Garnet & Grey are only five shots out of first place entering the final round on Tuesday.
Barnes remained steady during his second round on the par 72, 6,981-yard layout, posting three birdies and 12 pars, while remaining just one shot off the overall individual lead. He is being followed by juniors
Nick Rubino (Charlotte, NC) (78-71--149, T-8th),
Rece Lott (Fort Worth, TX) (78-72--150, T-13th) and
John Hutcheson (Edina, MN) (76-77--153, T-20th), along with senior
Tommy Bishop (Jacksonville, FL) (80-74--154, T-23rd). Rubino tied for the low round (71) of day two and the event, posting four birdies and 11 pars on Monday. Lott had three birdies and 12 pars, tying for the sixth-best round of the day. Hutcheson had one birdie and 13 pars, and Bishop had three birdies and 10 pars.

No. 7 University of Lynchburg remains the leader in the event with its 297-293--590, followed by the Garnet & Grey (595), No. 8 Washington and Lee University (601), No. 15 Guilford (NC) College (604) and Randolph-Macon College (605) among the Top Five. James Alden of GC and Cannon Crane of W&L remain tied for first individually at one-over par 72-73--145.
H-SC will continue and complete its competition in the three-day, 54-hole event on Tuesday, April 30, beginning at 10:30 a.m. in Williamsburg. The nationally-ranked Tigers will be looking for their second ODAC Men's Golf Championship in three years after winning the conference title in 2022—only their third ODAC championship in the sport.
