Wynlakes Invitational being played at the Wynlakes Golf & Country Club in Montgomery, Alabama. Junior
Nick Rubino (Charlotte, NC) is leading the Tigers with his collegiate low round of five-under par 67 that has him tied for first individually among the 74 collegiate golfers.
Rubino posted six birdies and 11 pars during his outstanding round on the par 72, 7,033-yard layout. He is being followed by junior
Rece Lott (Fort Worth, TX) (69, T-4th), freshman
Jack Barnes (Manakin Sabot) (75, T-24th), along with senior
Tommy Bishop (Jacksonville, FL) (76, T-33rd) and junior
John Hutcheson (Edina, MN) (76, T-33rd). Lott had five birdies and 11 pars during his impressive round of three-under par 69, tying his collegiate-best. Barnes had five birdies and eight pars, while Bishop contributed two birdies and 11 pars, and Hutcheson added one birdie and 13 pars.
The tournament field features three teams that are ranked among the Top 25 nationally in the latest
Bushnell/Golfweek DIII Coaches Poll, including the No. 25 Tigers, and three others receiving votes in the poll. Tournament host and No. 13 Huntingdon (AL) College is leading the event with its nine-under par team round of 279, while Jack Burr of HC is tied with Rubino at five-under 67.
H-SC will continue and complete its competition in the two-day, 36-hole event on Tuesday in Alabama.
