PINEHURST, N.C. -- The Hampden-Sydney College Golf team posted a round of 306 on Sunday to stand 12th among 18 teams at
The Tiger Invitational being played at the Forest Creek Golf Club in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Junior
Nick Rubino (Charlotte, NC) is leading the host Tigers with his even par 72 that is tied for fifth individually among the 90 collegiate golfers.
Rubino posted three birdies and 12 pars during his opening round on the par 72, 6,925-yard layout. He is being followed by senior
Tommy Bishop (Jacksonville, FL) (75, T-30th), juniors
Rece Lott (Fort Worth, TX) (79, T-59th) and
John Hutcheson (Edina, MN) (80, T-69th), along with freshman
Joseph Weinstein (Midlothian) (81, T-73rd). Bishop had a very
rare albatross when he holed-out from 221 yards on the par 5 ninth for a two … adding one
birdie and 10 pars. Lott had two birdies and eight pars, Hutcheson had 12 pars, while Weinstein had two birdies and eights pars.
Huntingdon (AL) College is leading the event with its 288, while there are two individuals tied at two-under par 70.
H-SC will continue and complete its competition in the two-day, 36-hole tournament on Monday.
The Tigers' B Team is in the Pinehurst areas, as well, and is serving as host at the 7 Lakes Invitational—posting a round of 316 to stand fourth among the 11 teams in that tournament. Freshman
Peyton Lambert (Hartfield) is leading the group with his 75 that is tied for second individually among the 68 golfers.

Jack Barnes (Manakin Sabot) (77-6, Tth), junior
Knox Sirmans (Rome, GA) (80, T-22nd), freshman
Owen Sibley (Dallas, TX) (84, T-37th) and junior
Brody Smith (Yorktown) (87, T-48th). In addition, sophomores
Pierce Lambert (Hartfield) (80, 22nd),
Jack Davis (Radford) (83, T-33rd) and
Cole Wright (Wake Forest, NC) (87, T-48th) are also competing at the event.
Peyton Lambert posted two birdies and 10 pars during his opening round on the par 71, 6,561-yard layout, while Barnes had one birdie and 11 pars, Sirmans had one birdie and nine pars, Sibley had two birdies and four pars, and Smith had nine pars.
Pierce Lambert had 11 pars, Davis had one birdie and seven pars and Wright had six pars.
The Carnegie Mellon (PA) University B Team is leading the event with its 312, while Andy Xin of Swarthmore (PA) College is the individual leader at one-under par 70.
H-SC's B Team will continue and complete its competition in the two-day, 36-hole tournament on Monday.
