V Foundation Victory Over Cancer® game in S. Douglas Fleet Gymnasium at Kirby Field House. The Tigers are 4-1 overall following an 81-78 home loss to (RV)Gettysburg (PA) on November 23 in Fleet Gym. The Maroons, receiving votes in the poll, are 5-1 overall, 2-0 in the ODAC, after an 88-82 conference home win past Randolph on Nov. 26. The game can be heard locally on WVHL Radio, Kickin' Country 92.9 FM, and will also be available worldwide on the Internet at
wvhl.net or via the TuneIn Radio App, while available to watch on the Tiger Sports Network live video stream at
hscathletics.com. It's the ODAC opener for the Garnet & Grey, and as a reminder, its Free Admission to all regular season home games at the College.

Head Coach Caleb Kimbrough
H-SC is led by the sixth-year head coach who took over the program on April 4, 2019. The former head coach at Huntingdon (AL) College from 2016-19, Kimbrough is the 19th head coach in the 115-year history of the storied Hampden-Sydney program. He is no stranger to the ODAC, having played four years at Guilford (NC) College and coached six years with the Quakers, and one year at Washington and Lee University. Kimbrough is 87-39 at the College, ranking seventh in program coaching wins, while his current winning percentage (.690) ranks second all-time. He is the back-to-back National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III District 6 Coach of the Year (2022-23, 2023-24), and was the 2022-23 ODAC Men's Basketball Bob Johnson Coach of the Year

Colin Radcliffe. Brazil is serving in the leadership role for his third season, while Fernald and Radcliffe are each first-year captains. Adam is the son of Mark and Kristen Brazil and is majoring in English with minors in leadership in the public interest and rhetoric. Shane is the son of the late Jon Fernald and Cathy Smith and is majoring in English with a minor in rhetoric. Colin is the son of Ian and Sarah Radcliffe and is majoring in history.

Scouting (RV)Roanoke
RC is coached by ninth year mentor Clay Nunley and has been led by senior guard Joshua McClary, who is averaging 16.5 points and 4.2 assists. Sophomore guard Jackson Bell adds 14.2 points (10 3FGs), junior guard Marcus Morgan averages 11.2 points and 6.0 rebounds, while sophomore guard Clayton Gaither contributes 10.8 points (8 3FGs). The Maroons shoot 50% (194-385) from the field, including 42% (45-107) on three-pointers, and 70% (98-140) at the line. RC is scoring 88.5 points, and yielding 67.2 points, for a +21.3 scoring margin.
Series History
H-SC and RC are playing for the 95th time as ODAC opponents since the Maroons became basketball members for the 1980-81 season. The Tigers lead the closely-contested series at 49-45, including three-straight wins, most recently a
74-48 home win last season on January 27, 2024 in Fleet Gym.

Defending NCAA Division III National Champion Trine (IN) University (7-0) is ranked first with 624 points, including 24 first-place votes. ODAC member Guilford (NC) (4-1, 201) remains 17th, while ODAC schools Randolph-Macon (2-2, 37), Averett (5-0, 31) and Roanoke (5-1, 12) are each receiving votes in the poll.

Adam Brazil and
Alex Cannon were named the
ODAC Offensive & Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for games played Nov. 18-24.
Adam Brazil averaged 25.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.7 steals to lead the Tigers to a pair of wins in three games, earning the conference's offensive honors for the second-straight week. He scored a game-high 22 points, adding five rebounds, three assists and two steals during a 74-71 road win at (5)Christopher Newport on Nov. 19 ... had a game-high 23 points in 22 minutes during a 96-67 home win past Pfeiffer (NC) on Nov. 22 ... and followed with a game-high 30 points, including 22 in the second half, adding six rebounds, four assists and a game-high two steals during an 81-78 home setback to (RV)Gettysburg on Nov. 23.
Alex Cannon averaged 3.0 blocks, 3.3 rebounds and 3.0 points in 14.0 minutes off the bench, adding two steals and one assist to earn the defensive honors for the first time. He had a game-high three blocks, adding a career-high five rebounds in 15 minutes during the road win at CNU ... posted a game-high and career-high five blocks, along with five points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal in 13 minutes against Pfeiffer ... and followed with four points, a game-high one block, along with one rebound and one steal in 14 minutes against Gettysburg.

Back-to-Back Top 10 Wins
H-SC posted consecutive Top 10 wins within six days earlier this season, including an
84-77 home win past preseason No. 7 Randolph-Macon on Nov. 13 in Fleet Gym ... and a
74-71 road win at preseason No. 5 Christopher Newport on Nov. 19 in Newport News. The Tigers led 41-35 at halftime, and by as many as 14 points in the second half against the Yellow Jackets as
Adam Brazil scored a game-high and career-high 34 points. The Garnet & Grey led 33-25 at halftime, and by as many as 12 points in the second half against the Captains as Brazil scored a game-high 22 points. It marked the second consecutive road win at CNU, along with an 85-70 road win at CNU on Dec. 13, 2022 in Newport News.

Picking Up Where He Left Off
Shane Fernald has began this season as he finished last season ... playing at a high level ... averaging 14.6 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 22.8 minutes, while shooting 53% (31-58) from the field. He averaged 10.0 points (66% FGs), 4.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 16.0 minutes during the six NCAA Tournament games last March.
Impact Transfers
Colin Radcliffe and junior guard
Hamilton Campbell (Wytheville) have been impact transfers to the program. Colin is averaging 12.2 points in 20.9 minutes off the bench, while shooting 64% (21-33) from the field and 67% (12-18) from three-point territory. Hamilton is averaging 6.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 14.3 minutes off the bench, while shooting 92% (11-12) at the free throw line.
The Team Three-Point Stat
H-SC has made at least one three-point field goal in
498 consecutive games, dating back to a home game vs. Emory & Henry on Dec. 3, 2005 (0-1 3FGA). Ironically, the Tigers won that high-scoring contest 130-99.
Program History
H-SC is competing in its 115th-year of basketball during 2024-25. The Tigers began this season with an overall program record of 1,517-1,096 since beginning in 1908, and currently total
1,521 wins. H-SC has posted 63 winning seasons, 17 seasons with at least 20 wins, six seasons with at least 25 wins, has won a record 11 ODAC Tournament Championships and has made 16 NCAA Tournament appearances.
Three Former Tigers Are Division I Head Coaches
H-SC currently has three former basketball team members and graduates of the College that are serving as NCAA Division I head coaches.
Russell Turner '92 is in his 15th year at UC Irvine ...
Ryan Odom '96 is in his second season at VCU and his ninth season as a DI head coach (UMBC, Utah State) ...
Griff Aldrich '96 is in his seventh year at Longwood. Through Dec. 2, Turner was 297-180 at UCI (8-0 this season) ... Odom was 189-113 overall, including 30-16 at VCU (6-2 this season), 44-25 in two years at USU and 97-60 in five years at UMBC ... Aldrich was 116-88 at Longwood (7-2 this season).
