Adam Brazil (Mooresville, NC) and sophomore center
Alex Cannon (Loganville, GA) have been named the
Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men's Basketball Offensive & Defensive Player of the Week, respectively,
for games played November 18-24. Adam averaged 25.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.7 steals to lead the nationally-ranked No. 23 Tigers to a pair of wins in three games, earning the conference's offensive honors for the second-straight week. Alex averaged 3.0 blocks, 3.3 rebounds and 3.0 points in 14.0 minutes off the bench, adding two steals and one assist to earn the defensive honors for the first time.
Adam Brazil (5-10) scored a game-high 22 points, including 3-7 three-pointers, adding five rebounds, three assists and two steals during a 74-71 road win at No. 5 Christopher Newport University on Nov. 19 in Newport News. He had a game-high 23 points in 22 minutes, making 9-13 field goals with a three-pointer and 4-4 free throws, adding two assists during a 96-67 home win past Pfeiffer (NC) University in a first-round game of the Hampden-Sydney Tip-Off Tournament sponsored by Elder, Watkins, Friedman & Allen, P.C. on Nov. 22 in S. Douglas Fleet Gymnasium at Kirby Field House. Adam followed with a game-high 30 points, including 22 in the second half, adding six rebounds, four assists and a game-high two steals during an 81-78 setback to (RV)Gettysburg (PA) College in the championship game on Nov. 23 in Fleet Gym, while named to the All-Tournament Team. Through five games, Brazil is averaging 25.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 33.8 minutes, while shooting 54% (46-86) on field goals, including 31% (10-32) on three-point field goals, and 83% (24-29) at the free throw line.
Alex Cannon (6-9) had a game-high three blocks, adding a career-high five rebounds in 15 minutes during the road win at CNU on Nov. 19. He posted a game-high and career-high five blocks, along with five points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal in 13 minutes against Pfeiffer on Nov. 22. Alex followed with four points, a game-high one block, along with one rebound and one steal in 14 minutes against Gettysburg on Nov. 23. Through four games played, Cannon is averaging 2.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and 11.3 minutes, while shooting 50% (3-6) from the field and 33% (3-9) at the line.
H-SC is idle this week for the Thanksgiving Holiday before opening ODAC action against visiting Roanoke College on Wednesday night, December 4, at 7 p.m. in Fleet Gym.
