Hampden-Sydney Falls To Franklin & Marshall (PA) 7-2 To Start Two-Match Road Trip

Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. -- Sophomore Barrett Foster (Virginia Beach), played a part in each of the two points for Hampden-Sydney College in the 7-2 defeat to Franklin & Marshall (PA) College, Saturday afternoon at the Alumni Sports Fitness Center in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  

H-SC got one point in doubles action, as the pair of Foster and freshman Casey Coffey (Midlothian) got a strong 8-3 victory in the top doubles match. Sophomore Henry Singleton (Richmond) and his partner freshman Dillon McReynolds (Abingdon) along with the pair of senior captain Patrick Conde (Virginia Beach) and freshman Tanner Allison (Midlothian) fell by an 8-3 score line.

Foster grabbed the only singles win, with a three-set match in the top slot. He fell behind, losing the first set 6-2 before getting hot and taking the final two sets 6-4, 6-4 for the victory. McReynolds fell in three-set after taking the first set 6-4, he dropped the second set 6-2 before being beaten in the final set 7-5. Coffey took his first set into tiebreakers but fell in the first set 7(8)-6(6), before being beaten in the second set 6-4. Singleton also took his first set to tiebreakers, dropping the first set 7(7)-6(3), and falling after losing the second set 6-4. Freshman John Glassner (Charlotte, NC) fell in his match 6-0, 6-0, and in the final match, Allison was bested 6-1, 6-1.

The Tigers will be back in action on Sunday, April 2 when they travel to Bridgewater College for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matchup with the Eagles. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at the Mapp-Whitelow Tennis Courts in Bridgewater, Virginia.
