Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, VA --Â Following its season-opening victory last weekend, Hampden-Sydney College fell to Christopher Newport University, 9-0, Friday night at James River Country Club in Newport News, Virginia.
In doubles action, sophomore
Barrett Foster (Virginia Beach) and freshman
Dillon McReynolds (Abingdon) fell 8-3. Falling by the same score was the duo of sophomores
Henry Singleton (Richmond) and
Taylor Fox (Virginia Beach), while freshman
Casey Coffey (Midlothian) and sophomore
Matt Kendrick (Birmingham, AL) fell by a score of 8-0.
Both Kendrick and McReynolds forced a seventh point in their singles matches before falling, with Kendrick falling (7-5, 6-3) and McReynolds fallings (6-2, 7-5). Foster in the number one singles slot, fell (6-2, 6-4). Fox fell in his singles match (6-3, 6-3), and Singleton fell in a hard-fought (6-3, 6-4) match, followed by a, (6-1, 6-0) match played by Coffey.
The Tigers will be back in action on Friday, February 24, when they Travel to Centre College to take on Asbury University in a non-conference neutral site bout. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. in Danville, Kentucky.Â
