Lexington, VA In a 15's rematch from a 7's match just a week ago in Farmville, the Hampden-Sydney Rugby Football Club fell to the Virginia Military Institute on Saturday 26-7. On a warm and windy day the Ruggers asserted themselves into the game by scoring first at the 35:10 mark in the first half. Teddy Hendrickson scored a try from close in and Graeme Ebert converted the kick for an early 7-0 lead. The next fourteen minutes saw an increase in intensity but no scores until VMI scored a try with 21:10 to go in the half. VMI followed that up with tries at 18:12 and 4:11 to take a 21-7 lead into halftime. High intensity and physical play continued as the second half saw a near stalemate. Strong defense and good tackling by both squads made it difficult to score. The only points in the second half were scored by VMI on a try with 27:58 remaining.

Hampden-Sydney will finish the spring schedule on Saturday, April 23rd with a trip to Newport News to play Christopher Newport in a 15's match beginning at 1:00 pm.
