Richmond, VA On Saturday, the Hampden-Sydney Rugby Football Club began its spring competition schedule at the Spider 7's Rugby tournament hosted by the University of Richmond. Playing in a 7's format of short matches and in its first competition since the fall, H-SC opened with a loss to host University of Richmond 7-0. The Tigers had the ball inside five meters preparing to punch it in as time ran out. The Tigers played good overall defense but Richmond had one long break away for a try. In game two the Tigers fell to Old Dominion 19-15. Down 19-0 at the half, H-SC stormed back with three tries and shut out ODU in the second half. In game three H-SC defeated Longwood 58-0. The Tigers played a good clean game with aggressive tackling and excellent passing, tallying a total of ten tries and four conversions. Overall stats for the day:
