Fredericksburg, VA – The Hampden-Sydney College tennis team competed in its final event of the fall season in the ITA South/Southeast Regional on Friday, September 30, and Saturday, October 1, at the University of Mary Washington.
The tournament was divided up into doubles and singles events with there being multiple different tournaments for each. The singles events were divided up into B1, B2, B3, B4 and Champ Singles tournaments, while the doubles events were divided up into B1, B2, and Champ Doubles. Each event also consisted of a consolation tournament for those who lost their first match.
Freshman
Dillon McReynolds (Abingdon) was the only Tiger competing in the B1 singles tournament where he lost a close match to Lalith Suresh from Swarthmore College 8-6. McReynolds then faced Akshay Joshi from Carnegie Mellon University in the B1 consolation quarterfinals dropping an even closer match then his previous one 8

H-SC had two competing in the B4 singles tournament with freshman
Casey Coffey (Midlothian) and sophomore
Taylor Fox (Virginia Beach). Coffey took the victory in his round of 16 matchup with Angel Cerpa from Goucher College 8-3. He then took on Ethan Yu from Ursinus College in the quarterfinals of the B4 singles tournament and lost 8-2. Fox did not get off to the same good start as Coffey losing his round of 16 match 8-3 to David Kohl Perkins from Washington College. He rebounded though in the consolation quarterfinal match and took an emphatic 8-1 victory over Larry Johnson III from Stevenson University.
Sophomore
Barrett Foster (Virginia Beach) represented the Tigers in the Champ Singles tournament, falling in the round of 64 to Evan Erb from Washington and Lee University 6-1, 6-4. Foster then played against Jacob Pfab from the University of Mary Washington falling 8-7, 9-7.
The Tigers had a doubles team competing in each of the three tournaments. Sophomore
John Kendrick (Birmingham, AL) teamed up with McReynolds to compete in the B1 doubles tournament facing off against the University of Mary Washington duo of Drew Campbell and Ryan Meyer falling 8-5. Kendrick and McReynolds then took the win in their consolation quarterfinal matchup 8-5 over Levi Veleanu and Garrick Adams form Dickinson College.
Senior
Patrick Conde (Virginia Beach) and sophomore
Henry Singleton (Richmond) represented H-SC in the B2 doubles tournament, taking their first match in the round of 16, 8

5, against Simeon Smith and Lukas Sanidas from Stevenson University. The duo then took on Chris Catan and Trey Cody from Salisbury University in the quarterfinal and dropped the match 8-3.
Sophomore
Matt Kendrick (Birmingham, AL) and Foster competed for the Tigers in the Champ Double tournament, falling in the round of 64 to the duo of Hellman Zhao and Philip Rehwinkel from Swarthmore College 8-4. The pair received a bye in the champ consolation round of 32 and then faced off against Abhinav Nallapareddy and Aiden Kim from Haverford College in the round of 16, but dropped the match 8-5.
With this being the last event of the fall season, the Tigers will take a lengthy break before opening their spring season against Pfeiffer University on February 11.
