Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Hampden-Sydney College tennis team wrapped up action at the two-day 2021 Marlin Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Virginia Beach. With no team score, players competed in a round-robin style of matches. Virginia Wesleyan University hosted the event with the Tigers, Marymount University, Southern Virginia University, and Methodist University (NC) each participating.

A number of freshmen led the charge for H-SC over the weekend. Charles Adams/Mechanicsville finished 2-0 in singles and 1-1 in doubles to lead the Tigers with a 3-1 overall record. Nick Beaudoin/Norfolk split both his singles and doubles matches to finish 1-1 in each category. Taylor Fox/Virginia Beach won his two singles matches on Friday, dropping only three games in the process, before falling in his lone singles match on Saturday to finish 2-1. Pierce Gemborys/Wilmington, NC won both of his doubles matches with Beaudoin and Adams. Matt Kendrick/Mobile, AL split his four doubles matches and went 1-2 in singles to finish with a 3-4 record for the tournament.

H-SC travels to the ITA Fall Southeast Regional on October 1-3. The event is being hosted by the University of Mary Washington at Battleground Athletic Complex in Fredericksburg.
